Why do they have so many medication commercials ? Plus they tell all the side effects of they medication , I change the channel when they come on and I want scream.

The ones *I* dislike are the ones that want you to poop in a jar and the ones where someone's telling you about how their product will solve all of your adult bed-wetting problems. Runners up: all of the lady problems commercials. Third tier: all of those (fake) products that are supposed to make men look and feel 40 years younger.

I wonder too why there are Rx drugs commercials. Its not like there's that many options for the patient. The doctor prescribes a certain med. That's it. Plus some of these drugs can cause certain cancers, especially lymphomas. To me a side effect is bothersome. An adverse reaction threatens ones health. I put Rxs that make you prone to serious disease in the latter category,

A post from my Facebook page dated Feb 5, 2019, 3:39 PM: So many TV commercials end with, "Ask your doctor if (name of drug) is right for you"! My question is, are there really that many ignorant people (suffering from these various conditions) that makes it economically sound for these drug companies to spend so much money on such advertising. Anyone who feels the need to recommend or suggest a medication to their doctor/specialist should be looking for a more competent doctor.

Believe it or not, "back in the day", pharmaceuticals were not allowed to be hawked on TV - and I think lawyers and doctors were prohibited as well (someone correct me if I'm wrong). The "symptoms" you get that prompt doctors to prescribe medications are actually the signals that your body gives you that you are deficient in something - usually water and/or salt. Most medications (other than antibiotics) are temporary "fixes" - they hide the symptoms until they wear off, then once the symptoms return, you need to take more medications. And thus, a vicious cycle is created that keeps you on the medications for the rest of your life. Much of it can be fixed - but then, why would anyone take my word for it? A few people in here have accused me of lying, so I guess I have no credibility. (To those people who like to accuse me, if you're taking medications of some kind, contact me in 10 years and let me know how it's working out for you. 😆)

Because they want people to ask their doctors for it. I no longer watch TV, but the drug commercials I found amusing were the ones that extolled how this drug would improve your life and then a very fast-spoken list of side effects at the end would enumerate "sudden death" among the possible side effects.
