Mesothelioma is a relatively rare cancer, and associated with asbestos exposure. There are new treatments being explored and clinical trials are being established. There may be numerous web sites for various reasons. Information primarily, from organizations that treat cancer. If there has been a high incidence of inquiry with cancer organizations, they may be filling a purposed need. Since the disease seems to be caused by asbestos I imagine there are legal aspects to having web sites. Info for anyone considering a lawsuit for example.

I totally agree to what vishious has to say. I believe there are so many sites just because they want to create awareness among people about mesothelioma - a deadly asbestos-related cancer.
