  • If you search the internet, you will find that there are new pronouns being invented for this purpose. If you don't find something you like, you could say, one is...; someone is...; oneself is...; who is...; whoever is... But please don't use "they is". Thank you.
  • They are means various people, they is--is broken English. A non-binary person as you mentioned is regarded as an individual or a single person. You say he is or she is a member of your family.

      Uhh, you wouldn't know the difference out of what's disrespectful and what's not. That's why you're asking for advice. Your question is speaking about a PERSON, not people. I will further educate you. Person - he or she is in singular. People - they are in plural. *Facepalm*
  • In English, "they" generally specify plural. Twisting the language around to accommodate personal pronouns is silly, IMHO. 1/23/23
