  • I'm not 100% clear what the question is asking. Are those two sets of data from a single experiment, or from two different experiments? Typically, precision is determined by the amount of statistical variation between repeated measurements of the same quantity. This could be represented by the standard deviation. But, there is no universally acknowledged measurement of precision, so it's whatever your textbook says it is. If I were to characterize the precision of these two measurement sets, I would take the average and standard deviation, round the standard deviation to one significant figure, and round the average to the decimal place represented by the standard deviation. For example, for set a: 48.7 +/- 0.3 %.
