Cheerio yes, it is often said in Britain to mean good-bye.
-
Cheerio yes, but I've never heard anyone say chip chip cheerio.
-
I've never heard a Brit say that...and I've been talking to them almost daily for years now.
-
It's actually pip pip cheerio-not chip chip
-
I think we stopped saying that round about 1930.
-
i think your mixing pip pip and chim chim cherie from mary poppins
-
Pip Pip (not chip chip, that's not been used) - No. It meant goodbye, I think it hasn't really been used since wartime. Cheerio - Not really, but it is still used sometimes. It also means good bye.
-
Not in my lifetime, and I was born in 1946.

Lol no!

Yeah right! Do Americans say "have a nice day y'all". Actually they do, most of them anyway. That's like saying we all wear bowler hats & have tea with the Queen! Come on man get real!!
-
LOL. No! Pip Pip Cheerio - Sounds like a breakfast cereal IMAO LOL
-
Do they hell. I think some people somewhere in the country still say 'cheerio' but I'd think they were very odd if they said it to me. Here where I live, we say "see you", "see you soon", "bye now" etc. One phrase older people occasionally use round here is "tatty bye" or "ta ta, chuck/cock". Is cheerio more of a Southern thing?
-
Thats kinda like a oreo breakfast cereal right :)?
-
Yo Americans am having a laugh arnt yo mate,we tork posh over here!

You watch gay comedies on sky satellite?
-
If they are craving a potato snack and some cereal
-
Cheerio, on an odd occasion might be used. Never heard chip chip cheerios to be used. Toodle pip or toodle-ooo or just plain toddles, which is a funny option to say goodbye. I just say bye or see you later (I'm a brit!)
-
