I don't remember the name, but my first was rolled by my GrandPa out of a little pouch with strings, into a cigarette paper. He always rolled his own until he got too old. Then he switched to Kool unfiltered, I think it was. It was a funky hand-rolled mess, but I thought I was cool at 8 years old. He gave it to me because he knew I would get sick and hate it. I have never smoked. I had some people ask me if I wanted a cigarette in high school, and I kind of swung my backpack at them, and was never asked again. (Not violently.) I hear that a smoker smokes enough cigarettes in his lifetime to pay in cash for a house. Do I really want to incur that kind of long term obligation to make a friend or satisfy an appetite I do not currently have? Not to mention all the medical bills when I am sixty! (Or younger.) I've never met a rich person who smoked. A cigarette is a ticket to the lower class. No disrespect intended. I am talking the big picture here.

Thankfully, I've never smoked a cigarette in my life. Not so much as putting one to my mouth to mock... I mean, emulate... my friends smoking. Smokers I know always tell me it was the best decision I ever made, and that they wish they had never ever tried one in the first place. Almost all of my cousins, who were just as influential as my friends, if not more, in my life, have smoked and had a trying time quitting, while others continue to smoke. I strongly believe it was because all my uncles were/are lifelong smokers. My father never did... and if he ever did, he made every effort to make sure my brother and I never saw him put a cigarette to his mouth. I'm pretty positive he never did, though... as long as I've been alive.
