According to my dog's vet, some sort of bacteria. He has an ear infection now too. [ching-ching]

Not necessarily an ear infection, any irritation can cause itching just like on exterior skin. For instance if someone tickles you behind your knee...only in your ear (obviously you wouldn't get tickled in your inner ear but you get the idea :P).

Ear mites. Hair growing on the inside. Info comes from my audiologist that does maintenance on my hearing aids.

Could be an ear infection. Could also be the hairs in the inside of your ears, just the same as your nose.

The most common causes of itching are a nervous habit, fungal infection or the beginning of an infection. Other causes can be skin diseases such as psoriasis or dermatitis. Some people with allergies also complain of Itchy ears.
