I'll do my best to answer your Q. Folks want to advance. In order to advance and get promoted with increases in pay, they have to do their jobs better. Once he/she does the job better, they can learn other things and improve on those tasks and duties. When you do a job better, you're able to delegate authority and show others how to do that job. When others do your former job, you're able to have the time to continue doing your newer duties AND to follow through on the tasks you delegated and assigned. The idea is to get to the top of the corporate ladder with higher pay and the ability to effectively delegate authority (assign tasks and jobs) AND to be able to follow through by checking-up on the jobs you assigned to others. Efficency means more productivity, which means a better bottom line. IF you want to keep that job, you'll do the best job you can. If you aren't happy, start looking for a better position.
