Wiener dog is vernacular for the german word Dachshund. Dachs=Badger and Hund=dog. They were bred to flush Badgers out of their holes, hence the short legs. I've never seen Doxon, but assume it's just a corruption of Dachshund.

I have a daschund and she doesn't look anything like those long body weiner dogs, her legs are longer and her body shorter, and her nose is shorter also. I'm wondering if there isn't a difference between the two.
