You can be good at something or the best at something, also if you're the best at something aren't you good at it?

The term best is a measurement of rank -- from best to worst. The term good is used to describe quality -- a good day. Basically, and in a nutshell, you're just removing the factor of comparison when you say "good". "Best" is used to indicate a measurement or comparison. For instance, "She is having the best day of her life" means that out of every other day she's had, this particular day measures far above them. It outranks and outshines hands down. But, "She's having a good day" means her day is of a certain quality. No matter how you shape it, though, both terms are subjective.
