There is a * Wal-Mart 7.8 miles from my house, another 4.5 miles away and just last year, a new one was scheduled to be built 1/10 of a mile away from my house. Our neighborood and other nearby subdivisions stormed into the mayor's open town hall planning meeting and made it clear we didn't need another *, didn't want another * and were not going to live so close to another *! If built, we were ready to sell our homes and let the blight begin with carts all over the neighborhood, traffic and accidents, and 24/7 crime and mayham in a new special police zone. Our city leaders listened and so did Wal-Mart and the * went away.
