  • I don't think it is proper. It is sort of the same idea as using the cell phone at the dinner table. Just not cool.
  • I just feel sorry for them. Can't even have a meal in peace. They feel the need to talk incessantly during times when you should be just relaxing and enjoying a nice meal. It's kind of sad, really.
  • More than I think of the people who use mobile phones in movie theaters.
  • I think it is pretty rude. im 16, so my friends think its weird when i only pick up when it is important, and if i am around a conversation, especially with adults, I always excuse myself. I never text when i'm part of a convo with adults.
  • I think it is extremely rude, not only to the person or people you are with, but to the other people who are paying money to enjoy their dinner, I dont want to listen someone talking loudly to the person on the other end.
  • For me, the phone is for MY convenience and I never use it or allow calls when I'm with another person unless it's an important call I just can't miss. And I've explained it to the people I'm with in advance. I usually leave my phone in the car if I'm out somewhere and turn it off if I'm having company. There's no one that I'm in the first line of defense if there's an emergency.
  • Every time i hear or see someone with a phone, I just want to go over to them and smack them.
  • I expect it in a fast food place but think it would be really rude if the person were to make an outgoing call at a table. Answering the call and taking the call out in the foyer or outside would be preferable.
  • I really don't care if they use their phones in a restaraunt. It's dumb to get annoyed over trivial stuff like this.
  • It doesn't bother me
  • It's really annoying. One time I'd had it, and hung up because the person at the next table was talking way too loud on his cell phone. Seriously though, I don't have an issue with it but we need to be considerate and keep the volume down. If I can have a conversation with a person in my booth and noone cares why can't I have a conversation with someone on the phone. I think it's OK but we do need to keep it down.
  • A brief call is o.k., but I have been in proximity to people having loud extremely stupid conversations about nothing and I find this disturbing.
  • Just as long as they keep their tone of voice down I don’t pay attention to them, other wise I will pick up my phone and false dial a friend and saying out loud I cant her a word he is saying cause there is some Idiot here making a lot of noise on his cell, that should shut him up
  • Most are rude and loud and apparently want everyone to know their business. Some people do not need a cellphone. they talk so loud they could step outside and be heard. One guy did this in a restaurant restroom. he was in the number 2 stall, talking about his past due cellphone bill. i became upset and said what the heck? I flushed all the toilets and turned on two hand dryers at the same time. He could not hear and that was good.
  • They should limit to the most possible. Once I forgot to turn off my phone, so when I got a call I told the caller I was at a restaurant and turned it off after the call.
  • They are inconsiderate (and not all that hungry).
  • One word: Rude.
  • these people are just giving themselves cancer, theyll get whats coming to them in due time
  • It's most annoying and rude, often to their own company at their table. I've seen people answer their cellphones and talk and talk having a good old time while the person they are having lunch with just sits and eats alone. So much for company! And people don't keep their voices down, the shout into their phones, louder than they would talk to their lunchmates.
  • It's irritating and rude.
  • The only time it's acceptable is if it's a restaurant in an airport or McDonalds. Otherwise, it's really rude. It's even more annoying when a blue tooth is involved.
  • It's rude. It is just plain depressing when you see a family out to dinner and everyone is on the phone instead of talking to each other.
  • I don't mind if their conversation isn't any louder than a normal one and if it doesn't interfere with whatever I'm doing at the restaurant.
  • dipped in something hot and bubbly
  • If they are alone, I assume they are waiting for someone to arrive. But to see two people each on their cell phones makes me kind of sad. It's like they took the time to meet up but don't want to talk to each other.
  • To be honest, cell phones are every where now:) I am use to it. (well in church, or in the movie theatre its rude) but in a restaunt its fine , as long as they are not being too loud:)
  • I don't get it! Ok, in my defense, I don't own a cell phone...but I see ppl on those things constantly! I see ppl at parks, pushing their kids on the swings while gabbing away on their cell phones. Or they're feeding their babies while their phone is perminantly attatched to their ears. I am DEFINATLY a people watcher, and every time hubby and I go out to dinner, I see at least one couple talking on their cell phones rather than talking to each other. WHY GO OUT TO EAT THEN?!?!?! One day, while I was in the parking lot of Whole Foods, I saw a woman across from me in her car on a cell phone, the man in the next car over was on his cell phone, and when I got out of my car I saw two men walking towards me who seemed to be talking...but were actually on their little blue-tooth thing-a-ma-bobs and were chatting away with other people. It's like we've become a nation that has to be talking to SOMEONE ELSE.
  • I don't care either way. The only time I ever even notice is if they're talking really loudly to where it's interrupting my own conversation.
  • Welli work at a restaurant and think its extremely rude when people talk on their phones right there. But most people just go outside to do it.
  • I don't think it's so bad if it's just a short, quiet converstaion. I do think it's rude to be having a meal with someone and be talking to another person on the phone. It's even worse if the person is screaming into the cell phone like so many people seem to do.
  • If they are loud, and sharing the unwanted conversation with everybody, then they need to have the phone slapped out of there hands, and a group mosh pit to kill their phone : ) Maybe they will learn
  • It doesn't bother me. I usually just listen to the conversations for entertainment. Some of them are so funny, I have a hard time not laughing out loud. As for me, I do use my phone at the table, but I seldom actually talk on it. I mostly just text and that's not intrusive at all.
  • I don't care, cell phones are for emergencies so of course you would take care of something if you needed, though loud conversations are quite annoying.
  • To be perfectly honest, I think it depends on what it's for. In LA, I seen a sticker on the door of a Japanese restaurant Hokusai. I checked out the website (http://www.kizmeet.com) on my cell phone because it's about missed connections at restaurants, ha! Now, when I go to restaurants that have the sticker I always check, because you can see instantly if someone is posting a message about you. I dunno, just neat.
  • People that haven't gotten the hang of "when your out-your out" Isn't that why we have a thing called Voicemail? Email? texts? Home phones?
  • i think its crazy, they have no privacy, and the people around the could hear everything they say.youre in a resturant to relax and enjou a meal,,not to hear someones private blabbings!
  • Rude just Rude
  • They can use them, but it should only be for text messages!
  • Not only in the restaurrant. How many times I saw people in the department store talking loudly on the cell phone. I think it's really rude. A lot of people speak loudly on their cell phones. Bad manner. They are so inconsiderate. So instead of concentrating on your business you are literally forced to hear her conversation for awhile until you are done with this section.
  • they are way too into themselves and fell a need to appear self imporant
  • I believe it is very rude and distracting.
  • I think they're ignorant and inconsiderate. There should be signs in restaurants warning that if you use your cell phone, you will be escorted out so others can enjoy their meals in peace.
  • i think they're annoying! its like.. can't you sit down and have a nice meal without talking or texting for a half hour? geez!
  • They should excuse themselves to the other people at the table and talk outside the restaurant.
  • Wonderful. They talk about their love lifes, their bank accounts, their moods and more. What a wonderful way for a nosy busy body like me to find out everything about you. Please, call more and use the speakerphone so I can hear both sides. I love hearing these people as it is dinner and a free show.
  • I think that they are rude. The problem is, that the technology is moving faster than the social convention of courtesy. Someday, it will catch up. Until then, you should tell them exactly what you think.
  • They should step outside. The volume of their voices usually goes up and nobody's interested.
