"What do you think you will be nostalgic for in 20 years?" If I'm alive in 20 years, it will have been because I took after my mother's side of the family... I'd say we'll see, but I doubt I'd be posting here in 20 years about it. "What do you think might not be around anymore?" Hmm, lots of things that no one cares about at the moment, but will cause people to freak out once they're gone. Maybe Twinkies if people keep getting fatter on average (even though fewer and fewer people are eating Twinkies). "What will you be glad is gone, what will you be sad is gone?" With trash piling up around the USA, we will have to come up with some new plan for waste management on a large scale. I'd be glad to see more recycling and better reuse of our resources, but I'd be sad to see the short-term negative effects on businesses. I think we're actually in the middle of a re-invention of the economic system right now: more automation, more outsourcing, more globalization. 20 years from now, it might still be in the process of changing over, or it might have reached a point of stability.

Very insightful! I agree about the waste management though I think the problem is global and not specific to the US, and I think individuals need to take responsibility as well.

The same shitty mexican dirt-weed that's been floating around here for the LAST 20 years. xD

Why don't you buy some good seed and grow your own if you think you can do better?

That I was 20 years younger. Besides that the current music will be oldies and the kids, women, men's fashion will be considered weird by then. One innovation will be every disease will be cured or at least successfully treated.

I agree on all but the disease part. The medical profession will never allow it. Even if they did find a cure for all the diseases we have now they would make new ones up! -

Linda glad you agree with most of what I wrote. You sound really pessimistic. Not to worry Drs are working on a treatment for pessimisosis. LOL.

the phone book. Wonder what policemen will use then.

tasers, rubber bullets, tear gas, there are probably hundreds of options open to them. There is a foam that will stop you from moving. Personally, I'd rather not find out, so I obey the law and show a police officer respect.

The most likely thing that won't be around in twenty years is me, making the last two questions irrelevant.

I didn't think I'd live this long. My mother died before she was 60. But my grandma lived to be 98! I don't think I want to live that long! -

My mom lived to 97 and her last years were a real struggle, she had to be taken care of in a nursing home. She was so unhappy. I don't want to live like that.

I'm already past 75. If I'm still above ground in 20 years, I would probably be nostalgic for my youth. I can't say what I'd be glad was gone, but I can say I'd be sad to see the last vestiges of my language and culture disappear. 2/20/23

That would be sad! But I don't think that will happen. -

I don't know. The boarding school era did it's job pretty well. There are only 3 or 4 fluent talkers left now. Although the younger folks have started a language revival effort, I don't know if it will work or not. I have tried to pass it on down to my own descendants, but they just don't seem to get it.
