No I don't, but I know a few who share middle names. My wife and my daughter share a middle name.

I do! My cousin Michelle shares the same name as her mother. And I share the same name as my dad, my grandpa, my great grandpa...it goes way back.

My first name is my mothers first name plus my aunts first name, hyphenated.

Genealogically speaking, it seems to have been the case a number of years back. Families used names from their own familys, usually the fathers', sometimes alternating the mothers'. Some used the mother's last name as a middle name. Some were named for famous people of the time - Isaac Newton, George Washington, John Charles Freemont, etc. Sometimes the child is named for the 1st spouse who died. But, yes... I've seen a number of cases with the daughter named after the mother. Many times the middle name is different, and that's what they were called as a child, to differentiate them from their parent.

No. I think it's highly unusual. I don't understand why that is considering the practice is quite common with fathers and their first born sons.

my step-grandmother's name is Maria and she named all 5 or 6 of the female kids Maria. They all have different middle names though.

Well lets see: Lashaun+Vashaun Evonne+Shavonne Renee'+ Tranee' (Tra-nay) Trina + Darlina You do not have to have the name for the most but just take parts of the names. One of these is my sister and my nieces name and my nieces middle name with a mixture of my name.

Yes, and I thought it was weird. In my first steady girlfriend's family, the oldest girl was named after her mother, but they had different middle names.
