Pocket Knife

My Swiss Army Knife with some of the extras :)

Depends what needs to be done. A basic tool list should start with a claw hammer, a pair of pliers, wire cutters, screwdrivers and a good utility knife. The right tool for the right job.
-
A flat head screwdriver. That is one of only 10 tools I know by name. :-)
-
I have a cheapy battery powered screwdriver with lots of different heads. I love it...you don't have to keep turning and turning the damn screw, just hold the thing in place. For opening things, i have lots of those grippy pads.
-
well, opening things I do the hitting the top with a can opener to break the seal.

-
mushroomPrying up the lid with the pointy end of the can opener is effective too.
-
Linda JoyYeah. I use a knife or the handle of silverware to break the seal then they twist open easily.

I'm a fan of the butterknife. It's wonderful!

I have a small tool box with a few often used tools. a phillips screw drives seems to be the main one.
-
A sledgehammer. tends to resolve many diy issues for me.
-
An interchangeable screw driver that has 2-4 different heads and I can change them to other bit sizes. We have one in each vehicle and upstairs and downstairs.
-
IF OPENING A JAR. TAP THE EDGE OF THE TOP IN 3 DIFFERENT AREAS. THEN UNSCREW IT.
-
scissors
-
My hands. No matter what tool I use my hands are always involved! I've used keys to open packages, both tape and those ridiculously hard to open mylar bags. I use scisors I keep in the kitchen drawer to open cereal bags and such. I break the seal on jars with screw lids by prying up the edge of the lid to break the suction then twist right off. I have a rubber type gripper, too. And if you're away from home but have duct tape there is a hack for using that to open hard to open lids as well.
-
ive never had to do that
-
Everyone knows that the paperclip is the universal tool. Hey, it worked for MacGyver!
-
a screwdriver

Hmmm... Probably my most-used tool (not counting kitchen implements) is a pair of adjustable pliers ("channellocks"), followed by screwdrivers. After that: crescent wrench.
