It depends on the nature of the job. Some jobs require a high level of responsibility, and a credit score is a decent way of determining if the job candidate makes wise choices.
-
No, just like you shouldn't have to pay higher insurance premiums because you have bad credit. The only time your credit score should be looked at for a job is if you are applying for the position of a loan officer.
-
No.
-
No. I don't see what value is there in doing that. But believe it, a lot of employers check your credit score when you apply for a job.
-
Some people need the job more based on their lousy credit and spending. I would only seek their qualifications and their other attributes. If they chose to tell me for some odd reason, I would never hold it against them.
-
no!...in Australia its illegal to check a persons credit history for employment
-
No. I find this highly insulting. My credit score has nothing to do with how well I do a job.
-
Quite frankly, I think this is discrimination and should be illegal. How well you manage money and finaces, does not indicate how your performance would be at work. I think that if there were ever a court case of one being turned down from a job due to their credit rating, the ruling should be that it is an infringement of the equal employment act found in all 50 states.

No and I have refused to fill it out on an application in the past. I was told fill it out or you can't be hired. I left. First of all, each inquiry 'dings' your score. Secondly, in this day and age of identity theft and the like, no one, but no one, is given permission for anything regarding my credit. Lastly, my credit history - whether bad or not - is no one's business but my own and my creditors.
-
Yes and No.... I think that if it is a job where you will have the chance to handle ANY money they have the right. It shows your irresponsibilty or responsbilty with money. If it is my company I want to know what makes you treat my money better than yours?? Other than that no, and even if they do check they should ask you about your credit first, give you a chance to explain. IF you dont meet their qualifcations on that do you meet others?? I hired a girl who had to file bankruptcy, I liked her so much in the interview and she was honest that when my coporate office told me No, I fought for her...got her hired and love her being my CSR.

no, we have a problem in this country thinking that if it's on paper then it's ok. a person can have a outstanding credit rating. have a excellent resume, and be the poster child of the year, it don't mean that they would be the best person for the job. Sometimes people credit get jack up for reason beyond their control. credit score and credit history shouldn't play a part in employment. unless you are working to the credit bureaus itself.
-
It should not be any factor in their eligibility.
-
i dont think it should cause that doesnt tell you the persons personallity
-
No.
-
It shouldn't be a factor of any major importance, but I suppose it does shed some light on the potential hire's level of responsibility.
-
No. No it should not, and I find it discriminatory.
-
I think it sucks and I have great credit. I don't see the point. My company does the same thing, they claim its because we take money from customers, the claim they want to make sure you aren't in debt so bad you will steal. I don't see it, if your a thief, then your a thief credit has nothing to do with it.
-
No. Credit score and history as they pertain to employment are as irrelivant as the number of children one might have. It should be illegal, as should using one credit history and score to determine insurance premiums. Credit scores are determined by unregulated organizations that DO NOT verify the information provided to them. Therefore liablous information about anyone can be put out there for the world to see and then the subject of that information is required to "PAY" to see what others are saying about them.
