If I havent been close with them I wouldnt say a word. To me, it would sound like a plea for sympathy and Im just not into that. I had cancer and it was a year or so before my older sister knew about it and I would have never called her to tell her. Mine was cured but I wouldnt have consulted anyone not really close to me if it hadnt been.

When this happened to a friend of mine 20 years ago or so he told everybody - his family, his friends, work colleagues, etc., and he became a more self-contained, self-confident and considerate person. He had what I don't have - faith, and it certainly sustained him until his death, while giving his family and friends the opportunity to prepare themselves for the inevitable.

Yes, I think I would. I believe I would want to say goodbye to everyone in my family. I think I would spend as much time as possible with the people I cared about, family and friends. I would also write or video my thoughts and my hope and dreams so that my children and their children could remember who I am and what I was about. I have been told of the passing of Blank Savage and I can only say that I pray for you. I only knew you briefly but it seems you were a fine man and a good friend and your loss is felt, even in the digital world. Rest in Peace amigo.

It would all depend on why we had not been close. I went through something similar. I had not seen my dad since I was very young. So young I did not even remember having him as a dad. My sister called me one day and told me he was sick and not doing very well. She had asked me to go and visit him several times in the past but I always had an excuse. Too busy with work or my family I now had or something else. Always and excuse. We this time I said I would go with her and we made plans to visit him the next weekend. Wednesday...the phone rang and it was my sister. He was gone and I had never really met him. I do regret it. I wish I had made the effort to get to know him and to introduce him to his grandchildren.

Of course, if after you would contact them they would get on your nerves and ruin the little time you have left (some people are like that, and we can't help that)you better cut them out of your life again.

Closing loose ends with all people, especially estranged family, is a very, very powerful process. It requires a lot of courage and humility, but the benefits are great. If you know that you have said what needed to be said and listened to what needed to be listened to then you are free. It's their choice to follow your lead or not, but your freedom does not require their participation. Being close to dying is, in that respect, a privileged place to be - a place from which great healing can come. If, thinking you are close to death, calls you to talk to your family then that is a process you should begin - that is the lesson of death - don't wait till later to do what you are called to do - do it now... ------------------------ A "side note" and less direct answer is to ask you another question - do you choose to accept the story your doctor(s) have told you? My wife was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and on her visit to a "top specialist" in the field. He showed us a bell curve of the statistics and said "you have 6-18 months to live, there is nothing you can do about it and there is no cure". He advised to "say good bye and settle her estate". Having been trained a scientist myself I asked about the top of this "bell curve" and he said "occasionally people live 15-20 years with this prognosis but they are statistical errors" - HIS WORDS quoted... When I asked "would it not make more sense, if you were studying healing, to talk SPECIFICALLY to those who've outlived the statistics and find out what it was they did?" He just gave me a blank stare... At the end of this visit my wife was ready to jump into a grave a die right there and then... It took her two weeks just to recover from the pain of the visit... It has not been an easy path, and it's certainly not for everyone, but 8 years later she's still alive and still dealing with cancer. The doctors do NOT know everything. They can, AT BEST, tell you what the body is likely to do without "you" - but if you choose to engage your will and your spirit in the intention of living then there are many things you can do to affect the outcome. Having dealt with Cancer (second hand) for many years I met many, many others who were in similar places and the majority of them outlived their prognosis - most by many years!

I am not sure I would. It depends on the situation and how I lost touch. I would also try out any other type of natural healing alternatives before I would give in to this disease. I have read some amazing things about natural healing powers. Read 'The Journey' by Brandon Bays, it is pretty amazing.

I dont see why thats even a question! Not to be rude or anything but those are the people that should be closest to you and they SHOULD know.. but on the other hand I dont like the constant questions about it up until I die.. I would tell a few close friedns, tell them NOT to tell, which they would anyways and then people aren't apt to talking about it because they are not supposed to know.. but yes. you HAVE to tell someone,, so that pretty much makes it everyone! my family is close but when my mum was given this news she decided to tell us half the truth, she told us she could be cured. within a month it was like she lost her mind i believe this was because she did not have anyone to share her fear with, she did not cry not even once we more or less lost her then. we were told the truth 1 week before she died (8 months after diagnosis). i feel so robbed of precious moments i could of had, and after being told by my dad that she asked why her girls werent spending time with her, feel so guilty. we were told she was in remission how were we to know.

For me..No way....my family left 3 of us kids behind...for us there was no home...no continuity...and most certainly no sense of family...just loss...I would not know my brothers and sisters (with the exception of 2 of them) fi they were standing next to me....

INTRODUCTION – WINNING THE CANCER WAR "Nature makes the cure; the doctor’s job is to aid nature.” Hippocrates (400 B.C.) I am honored with the prospect of being able to help you treat your cancer or that of your loved one. In the eight years I have been counseling people on how to cope with cancer, they have taught me that the only three reasons people die of cancer today are: 1] lack of information; 2] lack of discipline once they have the information; and 3] blind trust in their cancer doctors. The word cancer in your diagnosis always creates fear. This is part of the culture we live in. The fear of disability and pain is actually greater than the fear of death. Let me tell you something you can absolutely rely on. No cancer diagnosis is a death notice. Why Listen To Me? You have two choices. Seek out information on your own like what is in this book or listen to your doctors. I urge you to read for 10 to 20 hours (including the rest of this book) to become “smarter than your oncologist” about cancer. Really. That’s all it takes. Cancer is the easiest of the degenerative conditions to reverse. Much easier than diabetes, for example. Once you understand what cancer is, the way it is treated by cancer doctors makes no sense. I’m not selling anything except this book. None of the sources of help or substances I recommend pay me anything.
