If your pet was old but you knew had a disease would you have it fixed?
This is going to cost a lot of money either way she's dead in 3 years or less what to do?

Of course I would have it fixed by the Vet. Unless it would just prolong suffering. In that case the human thing to do would be to let it go and make sure it was comfortable on the way out. Or in extreme cases have the pet put down. I once saw a dog with a open gaping tumor on the top of it's head. It was constantly suppurating blood and liquid. It was suffering. I couldn't believe the stupidity of the owner just watching this happen and not doing something to ease the pain.

A difficult situation. When my 16 yo dog was starting to suffer from her age,I had to make a decision. When she declined fast, I let nature take its course, then chose to put her down.(that visit was the first and only vet visit where "M" was so peaceful. I sometimes wonder if i had the money if she would have had some more good years to live. I grew up in a household with cats and dogs and all were treated the same as far as minimal intervention.

ARTICFOX700 As OC Joe put it perfectly (thanks OC Joe) want to help but in doing so 3-5 with or without help. First cat had to put down, this one same issue she's at peace shes eating just off a bit.Feel so bad yet don't want to hear these vets or put her through any more hell that she may not too go through. Tough stuff all around

It's a tough question but having a serious health issue for a pet "fixed" has ramifications well beyond the love for the pet. The resources required to fix the pet is very frequently somewhere between large and monstrous and that can affect the entire family, retirement savings, education savings, and life style. The pet, after major surgery, is also not likely to live out a normal life span. Older pets are more likely to expire after 6 months to a year following the procedures and your savings and/or resources at that point are seriously depleted. You've got to be realistic and veterinarians often exaggerate the chances of a long life after invasive and very expensive procedures. . I’ve had to make that choice and it’s horrible but you have to look at the big picture.

I was thinking along the same line as well, they tell me with a fix 3-5 without 3 or less, either way she's going to die. Had this decision about my other pet and she was just put down this cat is following those footsteps, shes at peace feel bad because I want to do something yet don't want to open a big can of worms so to speak.
