Hunting for food: For Hunting for trophies: Against
-
Let me think: Food and clothing: For Anything else: Against
-
If you are hunting for food and it's not costing you the cost of a small car is okay with me. If you are looking for something for your wall, bragging rights, even if you eat it, against.
-
I support hunting in very rural areas if it is for food, and done VERY responsibly. My best friend was killed in a hunting accident the first day of hunting season in 1986 by a 15 year old trigger-happy brat that was hunting alone (illegal at that age) and shot at a noise he heard, assuming it was a deer. Every time I hear stories of hunting 'accidents' I wonder if it was really an accident, or just blatant negligence. I do not support hunting just for bragging rights or trophies, I do not support wasting the meat, I do not support those that go hunting every possible moment at the expense of their families, or those that hunt on private property without permission. For those that are truly responsible, use the meat, and obey all the laws... go for it.

for pleasure--Against.
-
We Hunt For food and to protect our crops. If we did not keep the herds of deer under control, our crops would be devastated. We only kill what we can eat. Some of our meat is donated to the homeless shelter nearby and to the church for feeding low income families.
-
I am against hunting for pleasure. I find no pleasure in killing something.
-
I grew up hunting...thats what we ate...thats how we ate so I guess I am for
-
Are you against shunning or eluding people who hunt ?
-
Only when hunting to control the population. If it is for fun, well I don't find much fun in killing animals.
-
I'm definitely against hunting with Dick Cheney!
-
I love to hunt. The idea of man vs: animal engaged in the supreme challenge of survival. It's great. But I only hunt appropriate animals as allowed by state designated seasons. I'm not a poacher.
-
against when humans do it
-
Its not something I would do, but what I am more against is telling other people how to live thier lives.
-
animals can hunt all they want
-
For. As long as you're gonna use it for food.
-
I am for hunting and have done it for years. That being said I have to admit that I have never enjoyed killing an animal. In rural Montana hunting is a way of life. It is a financial neccessity as it supplies us with food. What pisses me off is the out of state people (I wont call them hunters) who drive around with a case of beer in their trucks and shoot from the truck when an animal crosses the road. If the animal runs out of sight they wont bother to check and see if they have killed it or not. They just drive on till they spot another one. Leaving an animal shot and not taking the meat is a crime here and I have reported several of these "road hunters" to the Division of Wildlife and they were arrested. Killing an animal and leaving it lay is inexcuseable both from a legal and moral standpoint. If someone is utilizing the meat and hunting responsibly I have no problem with it.
-
For. I love to hunt. I do not hunt anything I do not eat however. I am not for "trophy hunting". I would not kill an animal just to hang it on my wall.
-
Against. Why should animals be treated that way? its sick
-
Im for hunting because when you eat meat you are doing an even worse thing because the people are slaghtering animals and making them live in even worse conditions.
-
Against, what for to kill poor animals? Are we hungry and can have food only if kill poor animals?
-
I think it is not good.I would never consider killing an animal, especially for sport for the animal does not stand a chance against a gun.
-
I am not a hunter. I have never hunted. I probably never will. But I come from a county in Western Pennsylvania in which there are more deer than people, and almost as many bear. If it were not for hunting, the deer population would explode and more vast numbers would die from starvation every winter. Contrary to Disney and PETA, sport hunting in the US is hugely regulated and controlled by the State, and is absolutely known to be absolutely necessary FOR conservation of the forests, prairies, wetlands and the hunted species themselves. Hunting is niether a problem nor an evil: it's a good and necessary thing. Poaching is what's wrong.
-
I am well i guess for in to a certain point.. If you are just doing it to put it on your wall, or something like that then I dont approve of it. But if you kill it to eat it that doesnt bother me as much...
-
I was trained to hunt using US Taxpayer dollars. Of course, in the military, the prey is enemy humans.
-
For hunting! Fore Hunting Golf Balls Too!
-
Very much against.
-
Personally I think theres a place for all God's creatures...Right next to the potatoes and gravy.
-
I am all for hunting CERTAIN animals, DEER, hey If they haven't evolved into knowing by now that the white light is bad, Well a gun is a lot less painful & quicker. More then 90% of hunters actually eat the meat & keep the hides.
-
If the hunting is neccesary for feeding and clothing oneself or others, then I don't have a problem with it. But for sport, it is totally abhorrent, cruel and evil. Thank God fox hunting was criminalized here in the UK last year.
-
I support hunting, only if it's for the gaining of food and hides, not for just hides.
-
Hunting (as permitted and regulated in the US and Canada) is absolutely necessary and essential for controlling animal populations/preventing disastrous over-population. The same holds true even in African game preserves.
-
I think hunting is a good sport.
-
Totally against. Those who call it a "sport" should be ashmed.
-
ya all for it its the circle of life if you kill an animal and eat it it wont matter whether you hang it as a trophy or wear the dumb thing what does it matter its dead right i like trophies fur coats or anything if its dead it doesn't matter what you do with it.
-
I am all for it - but i am not a hunter - i am for rights
-
AGAINST! Its cruel.
-
If it be for nourishment ie food no problem if it for pure sport etc forget it
-
To hunt for food, following the laws and selecting the target with care and consideration ... for it ... To hunt for sport or trophies ... against it.

without hunting, none of us would be alive today, unless or ancient ancestors grew corn in the permafrost...
-
I am for hunting-period. Hunting is a thing that has run in my family for quite some time and the skills along with it have been passed down. Hunting is great for our economy, ecosystems and life. It proviedes exersise, food and teaches us skills you cant learn doing other things. Hunting strictly for trophys, while yes is a little wrong, if the hunter takes the animal and consumes the meat then there should be no problem with it. A mounted deer is like a photo, it keeps the memory alive. It also makes for great decoration in a room but what im trying to say is that im for hunting totally and think that when done safely, can be a activity well worth the time. There is nothing like the exitement that hunting brings.
-
ignorance is bliss... what bothers me is when people hunt the hunters and think they are not being hypocritical... hunting accident or vicious murder? ... like i said ignorance is bliss i think i'd rather ignore the matter because i have friends who hunt and i have friends who don't
-
I hope I dont make anybody mad by saying this, but i'm for. It's proven to keep animal population under control. but i understand why people dont go for it, it is cruel
-
Hunting for food has value when needed, but to hunt and kill for sport is barbaric. Putting trophy heads on the wall, etc.
-
I am for it;) It feeds a lot of people here in Michigan, any one who don't need the meat can donate it to local food kitchens;) Besides all the benefits for the enviroment;)
-
I am for it,If there was no hunting the United States would get over run with animals. It is already bad with animals going into populated areas what would it be like if the animal activity was multiplied by 10.
-
Can't say im thrilled about it as a sport, unless people eat what they hunt. I'm not one to say i'm against it though, it can be a lifesaving skill as a species.
-
If you (the hunters) were brave enough? ... Perhaps you would have gone to Afghanistan to fight the Taliban ... Ha! perhaps not ... as they tend to shoot back ;) Its easy to kill something dressed in camo equipped with a high powered rifle and a scope which is totally unaware of your (the hunters) intentions to harm it ... Its like sending a 3 year old child into the scrub and then hunting it ... What thrill one gets from a sport that is played by totally unfair terms and conditions is beyond comprehension? ... But then again ... I'm sure its not scientists or mathematicians who are pro hunt or pro guns ... is it now ;)? When a man hunts a man with the same tools and knowledge ... Only then do you have an even playing ground. 99% of these brave animal hunters would cry like babies if they themselves became the hunted by the same methods ... Hunt for food when neccessary ... Fine Hunt for thrill just to kill ... stupid What good has ever come from a gun in the hand of a man? Go get'em heroes ... stupid is as stupid does :) My opinion based on my ability to challenge all competiton fairly ie; boxing, karate, motorcycle racing etc
-
I am not a hunter, but I think that it is an absolutely necessary evil. Were I live we have no predators to thin the deer population. The deer would kill more people on the roads then all the drunk drivers combined.
-
I HOPE this is not one of those questions meant to bait any and all commenters with negative ratings for not believing your point of view. I'm just saying...... I am for it. I am NOT, however, for using animals for taking potshots, target practice, out of season hunting, or poaching. There is nothing wrong with taking what you need out of the environment. Don't be wastful, don't be greedy.
-
If it's unnecessary and cruel ("Hey, let's get drunk and go slowly kill some animals for no frigging reason except that we have Y chromosomes!") then screw that. And I do think that the necessary culls of kangaroos and boars in Australia, for example, should be performed more humanely. But non-cruel hunting? I'm kind of a 'meh' on that. Subsistence hunting for food? Pretty much for. Definitely better than most current farming for meat practices (vego, here. Yo.)
-
For, it's a natural as breathing.
-
For hunting.
-
against. i really dont think god made animals for us to shoot for amusement. if needed, then there would be reason he's done so.
-
I am for hunting. For a number of reasons. One, without hunting, animals would overpopulate, starve due to lack of resources, and suffer a horrible death. Two, humans, as a species, have always hunted and eaten meat for their survival. Now, we just commonly do it en masse with cattle and other meat animals.
-
I am a "non-hunter" because I know that I could not bring myself to shoot an animal unless I felt threatened by it, and even then, only as a last resort. I believe I could more easily kill a person than an animal. BUT... I believe there is a need for management. This helps weed out the weak that may not survive and aids in decreasing vehicular accidents which costs lots of money and lives of the animals as well as lives of humans. I don't believe in poaching, killing just for sport, or baiting. My father hunted rabbits and squirrels when I was growing up. In a family of six kids it supplemented the meals on the table which was mostly grown from the garden or chickens from the hen house. Believe me... that was a pretty gruesome thing too! But I still eat chicken to this day. My husband has been a responsible hunter since he was young. He raised and cared for bird dogs and coon dogs. He has a real love and appreciation for wildlife and would never kill just to kill. He is an avid bow hunter. He loves to deer hunt and turkey hunt. We eat all the deer meat and turkey meat that is edible. He has hunted quail, grouse and pheasants. Again, we ate all that was good to consume. His very first bow kill was actually a black bear. Again, we ate the meat. I would much rather my husband spend his free time in the woods or on the lakes than in the bars or casinos. I'm not sure why anyone has to be an extremist one way or another in their opinion of hunting.
-
I have no issues with hunting. I think the majority of hunders are decent, respectable people.
-
im not against hunting...
-
no it helps regulate the population of game animals.
-
I don't do it myself, but I am for it. It's regulated like it should be, so I see no problem!
-
I grew up in a rural community, and hunting was very common. I'm against "trophy hunting", but hunting to supplement the groceries is different.
-
im 4 it all the way!
-
I am against hunting because I like to hike, and shooting guns unnecessarily increases the risks of hiking. I shoot animals with cameras, not guns. ... I've never seen animal populations starving because hunters didn't kill them either.
-
Hunting is a part of my culture. It connects me to the food chain and the reality of life and death in a way that buying meat in cellophane never could. It also provides fresher and leaner meat alternatives. I consider it "free range" and hormone free food. What I don't get is how people consider hunting "cruel" yet buy their pre-packaged meat which comes from animals raised in small pens just to be slaughtered.
-
Everyone has to make their own choice, but I was an avid hunter for many years until I just got tired of the killing. I ate what I killed, but why kill to eat when there are grocery stores? I supported the efforts to save wetlands and restrict hunting in the forests to fewer days each year, but that was to make hunting better, I was not thinking of the environment. I guess getting older does mean getting wiser because to hunt unless you NEED THE FOOD, is simply sport and that is killing for pleasure, not right.
-
I am not a hunter myself, but I do believe that hunters are needed to control the overpopulation of certain animals! : O )
-
I am for it!!! MMMM Tasty Animals!!! I love it
-
I am a hunter and I enjoy to eat the animal after words so the way I look at as long as I am not doing it to have fun with it, I am acttually doing something with it/for it then it is ok.
-
For...in no other way can you become one with nature and a part of it.
-
I am 18 and i have been a hunter since i was the age of 8. Some people might call me a redneck because I support hunting but I take that critiscism with pride because I know that when shit hits the fan I will have the skills and tools neccessary to provide for myself and those I care for. I beleie that it is irresponsible to always count on someone else for your meals. For as the bible states;"give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a life time." Lastly the current theme of the world is to eat organic. Whats more organic then eating something you yourself kill, butcher, and cook. No perservitives at all. Thats what real organic food is. For anyone still doubting how great and good hunting is you shoud read TED NUGENTS book "God Guns and Rock'N Roll.
-
against hunting for sport
-
For, but trophy hunting isn't something I'd be interested in.
-
I'm all for hunting if the animal is used for food.
-
i cant stop others from doing it but i wouldnt want to hunt myself
-
I favor all types of hunting. It is a natural instinct of humans. One of my boyfriends had some fine trophies from hunting. One was the head of a huge deer he shot in Canada. He had that mounted head, a deerskin jacket and 150 lbs. of meat from that large deer.
-
against, i dont think its fair to the animals to kill them when theyre just minding their own business
-
I'm FOR all types of hunting. It's natural to humans. Nothing is wrong with it. Only PETA nuts say it's wrong, and they're liars and con men.
-
against
-
Totally against.
-
I've been doing it since I was a child, and humans have been doing it since they appeared, so I'm certainly for it.
