  • It's because the English came up with the word "fall" for that season, so the people from England who came to America used it, and their descendants kept using it, while the waffling English changed their mind and stopped using it.
  • It's pretty much interchangeable. I usually say autumn, lots of folks use fall too though. Look at you, top billing on the leaderboard. Pretty soon you will have the gold star next to your name too! 11/15/24
