Given China's very...aggressive behavior regarding the Sea of China, I would expect that Japan would love nothing better than to sabotage China, but of course in the meantime putting on a "face" of building a good relationship with them. * That is: if the Japanese government had a button they could push, now, today, that would completely undermine China's economic and military might, they would rush to push it. But they don't, so in the meantime they're playing nice and gaining as much economic benefit as possible by selling to China.
