I have a Grey Parrot. He has a vocabulary of well over a thousand words. He understands context and grammar at about a preschool level, although he's over 20 years old. You don't have to teach him anything, he'll just say what he hears. He also makes lots of sound effects: laser guns, doors creaking open, whistles, beeping, burps, farts, dogs barking, cats meowing, elephants trumpeting - you name it.
