  • We, as a population, would be dead long before that happened.

      Yes I see person
  • It's not a lightbulb at all. It's a massive star that can fit 1 million earths in it. And it weighs 333,000 times more than earth. Now if sun ceases to exist, everyone dies eventually. It will get beyond freezing cold like many hundred degrees below 0. That would kill all the plants and all the animals. All plants dead means no oxygen being produced and big reduction in food source. All the animals will also die. Humans even if they survive with artificial heat and light, food can't be produced anymore. Earth would just be floating away wildly in space. Eventually the sun will die but not for 5 billion more years. The sun is going to be the same for the next millions of years. Humans -- not sure

Be easy on him - he's been under a lot of stress. If he thinks the sun is a light bulb, encourage him - and suggest he get a (((VERY))) tall ladder to change it in the event it goes out. ;-)

  • Well...it takes about 10,000 YEARS (according to scientific estimates) for light from ***inside*** the Sun to reach Earth. (It only takes about 8 MINUTES for light at the SURFACE of the Sun to reach Earth.) SO: **IF** the Sun "went out suddenly", we wouldn't know it...and our children wouldn't know it...and our grandchildren wouldn't know it...etc. Well...maybe we WOULD, maybe something like solar flares and sunspots would stop happening, and scientists would figure out what had happened...but it would be about 10,000 years before we FELT and SAW the effects.

  • The sun is a type of star and not a light bulb. If the sun went out it would have a devastating effect on Earth because part of survival on the planet is heat.

  • When this does happen I will rejoice that my name is written in heaven. Revelation 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. 24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. 25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.************Luke 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
