It's because Russia wants Chinese weapons and aid. *** Though I wonder if "aid" is really accurate. I think Russia has asked to PURCHASE weapons (probably specifically high-tech weapons such as Chinese-made drones) and products that might be considered "aid" - such as food and medical supplies. *** It might be, given Russia's falling credit rating, that Russia is asking China to extend them credit in the purchase of these products - thus: "aid" in the sense "financial aid".

Thanks for sharing! Aid can be anything from food, medical supplies as you say to financial aid in assistance. The US relayed to its allies in Europe and Asia that China had conveyed a willingness to assist Russia in its Ukraine invasion.
