Not to experiment. Doctors spend 600 teaching hours in medical school learning the effects of pharmaceuticals on the physiology of the body. They have a strong grasp on what medications are effective for what issues.

That's how it usually works. They called mine arrhythmia. The blood pressure monitor shows a high heart rate with irregular heartbeat. I was told to go to the hospital if my heart rate went above 120, I did and they said I kept going in and out of afib. Its not the same thing as sinus tachycardia, but they're similar. They took me off metoprolol (which I was on for years for tachycardia) and started me on sotolol..Which is supposed to keep me from going into afib. It didn't the first time, so they increased the medication and now it works most of the time. It doesn't hurt or anything. It just makes it difficult to sleep when I know my heart is wigging out. They told me to take it easy when that happens. But I can't take it much easier than sleeping, and they told me last time I was in the hospital my heart rate went up to 180 while I was sleeping. I know you like your coffee, but I was told that caffeine can trigger an episode. Did they tell you that? I switched to decaf and quit my energy drinks when they told me that. It didn't seem to make a lot of difference at the time, but I don't want to take any chances, I don't like being in the hospital! And that reminds me about the question you asked earlier about why do drs not give you all your medications while in hospital. I was told that some meds are more likely to interact with other medications so in hospital they don't give me my diabetes medications, they just test my sugar and give me insulin if I need it. I've never taken insulin except one dose in the hospital. They also didn't give me my fish oil or vitamin E. I don't remember if they gave me my vitamin D or not.
