What is a movie you can quote almost from start to finish?
When my brother came to live with me when he was 16 he watched Top Gun all the time and would quote it with them.

I'm not good at quoting movies. The closest I'd be able to get would probably be "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."

Linda Joy I've heard a lot of people rave about that movie, but I turned it off. It just smacked too much of blasphemy and disrespect for my religion. But then I didn't like Bridges of Madison County either, and a lot of people loved it. -

mushroom When I first saw that movie in a theater, a priest and two nuns were seated ahead of us. After the scene where God orders Arthur to follow his quest, they got up and left. Honestly, the film is mostly about how everyone is frustrated with their job, and all the rest is just the usual Python slapstick.

bostjan the adequate 🥉 I can see how some would be offended at that scene, but I really don't think that the satire in the scene targeted religion, but rather targeted the ridiculous idea that any omnipotent being would require Arthur to go chasing after a cup, especially since we know from the legend that Arthur never found the cup anyway.

bostjan the adequate 🥉 "The Life of Brian" was also called out for blasphemy and heresy, even though there is nothing in the film that disrespects Jesus and nothing directly satirical of the Christian Church. There is certainly a lot of satire directed at the sort of people who tend to believe in religious claims in general, though, which a lot of viewers took very personal. Maybe that says more about a person than the person realizes... I've come across a couple of movies before that I just found too distasteful to be funny, but I can't remember what they were called. I think there is a distinct difference between something that is funny and then crosses a line and something that attempt humour specifically by trying to cross a line. The first case can sometimes be brilliant, but the second is usually not very funny to me. But humour is strongly subjective.
