Would it make sense to quit my job to work at another company as a supplemental worker?
I have been at my current job for 5 years now. I got called to work for Stellantis which is a major automotive assembly plant where I live that pays well. As a Supplemental employee for the company I would make $15.78 an hour and it could take anywhere between 3 months to 3 years for me to become hired in as a full time employee. At my current job I make $18 an hour and my pay tops out at $22 an hour. The pay at Stellantis tops out $27 an hour. Also, when working for stellantis, I will work up to 40 hours a week until I am hired in, then my hours will go to 40 hours a week. I my current job I am guaranteed 40 hours every week. Which job should I take. I don't want to make the wrong decision.

Assuming a best/worst-case scenario, you're looking at an almost $13,000 pay cut over the time you're talking about. Another thing to consider is the "supplemental worker" part of it. I supplemental worker is another name for being hired through a temporary placement service. A lot can happen in the next 3 years that could affect you indirectly. Consider your options carefully - if things don't go as planned at the car plant, your current employer won't be so quick to take you back.
