I am from Japan, so I have not seen many John Wayne movies. Of the few I have seen, I like "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" best.
-
"The Shootist" and of course "True Grit" were his best, in my opinion. "I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them."
-
I don't like him, so I don't watch his movies.

True Grit (1969). John Wayne, Reuben J. "Rooster" Cogburn is a hard-drinking, one-eyed US marshal. The film is fun to watch.
-
The Searchers (1956) is another one of my favorites with Natalie Wood.
-
McClintock and The Quiet Man. There was no shooting and killing in either movie, just a couple of pleasant movies with lots of comedy and love.
-
I can't say it was his best; however, it is my favorite because I'm a sucker for a good love story...McLintock!!! Honestly, the movie of his that I'm watching at the time is my favorite (from his first to his last). BTW, I didn't answer the last time because I didn't see it!!!
