Actually yes, my small cousin desperately wanted a pocket knife for his birthday, so I gave him one on a family vacation for an early birthday gift. It was real tiny and super dull, so it didn't really matter.

No, but as soon as I read the question I thought it would be a good idea! Then I looked at the link. I had never heard of it before either. I would have chosen a sharpening stone, or oil. I did not know the superstition. But if I ever give a knife I will include a coin from now on! Not because I'm superstitious, but because I think its a cool tradition!
