Throw that particle board shit out. When it gets wet reeks of formaldehyde. Besides its a bunch of splinters glued together that puffs up after repeated exposure to moisture. Solid, Hard wood is best. : )

Furniture made of real wood is quite expensive. That's why so much particle board is sold here. You know, what with the new American (republican) economy, where everyone's gone or is going bust, and the entire 90 million member working class is either homeless or on welfare, instead of being able to find a job at all (the rich people sold all the jobs)(but it's ok, because - being rich - they needed more money, even if they had to make millions miserable to get it). For a while, it didn't hurt so much being American in the new millennium. because Wal-Mart was selling us our stuff VERY cheap. But...they got done eliminating the competition that way, and then jacked their prices up, so now we have something previously thought impossible (people who are too poor to be able to shop at Wal-Mart!). *sigh* -

I used to build houses. And in America, we make them out of wood. Well, I can tell you, with dismay, much of a new house is actually made of particle board now...the plywood sheathing....even the beams that hold the floor up. And you're right the stuff is known for emitting toxic gas which can build up in an enclosed space. It spawned a whole new industry, in fact - companies that will measure the gas level in your home..for a price. (That's the American way....don't SOLVE a problem, just find a way to profit by it!) -

Yes true, quite prevalent. I won't use it though. I'll spend more on plywood or tongue in groove pine. working now on replacing a built in gutter with soft copper. will last 60 or so years. The question is will the earth remain inhabitable for all of us?
