  • No, we evolved from sulpher breathing bacterium four billion years ago.
  • Since rocks are not alive...no we did not. We evolved from carbon based bacteria many many years ago.
  • There are some people that I think did, but didn't evolve very far.
  • According to the atheistic evolutionists we must have.
  • No. But it could explain why some are more resistant to change than others.
  • Deleted because of negative comments and points.
  • No, but that's what people are teaching children in school.
  • I have met some people who really made me think that they may have.
  • No, but I find it hard to believe that we did not. The sheer number of people who do not even understand what evolutionary biology states shows that we didn't evolve from anything intelligent, that's for sure. For crying out loud, people, you can read it for FREE.
  • umm No.. :)
  • Maybe, thats why we like getting stoned
  • You would certainly imagine so the amount of people who are as thick as Bricks . No we evolved from bacteria
  • yes, some of us to this day still have rocks in their head as a tribute.
  • The earliest forms of life on earth were bacteria, from which all present life ultimately evolved. The process by which those bacteria arose from non-living material is what's known as ABIOGENESIS. It remains one of the deep unsolved mysteries in science -- though we have a few clues and some plausible hypotheses. First, Darwinian evolution explain the diversity of life forms that grew from humble bacterial origins, but has nothing to say about abiogenesis. I'm not even sure that 'evolution' is the proper term for this discussion, though some would argue that molecular selection captures some of the essence of evolution. The real question is, how did METABOLISM arise? Somehow self-replicating macro-molecules formed from the soupy mix of organic and inorganic goo that existed on pre-biotic earth (at the surface or at undersea vents). This could only have occurred after the hot surface had cooled enough to permit liquid water. Laboratory experiments have shown that organic molecules can form in such an environment. RNA may have been one of the key ingredients leading to cellular life, possibly using clay minerals as a nano-scale scaffolding on which the molecules assembled. RNA, besides self-replicating, has been shown to have catalytic activity, i.e., it can have activity similar to protein enzymes before proteins existed. Other experiments suggest that relatively small and simple molecules can form mutually catalytic systems, i.e., each helps synthesize others. And we know that membranes can arise from a simple mix of chemicals, which would then provide better-sheltered micro-environments, with large surface areas, in which the reactions leading to self-replicating molecules might get started. In time we may unravel the mystery, though direct evidence will be very hard to come by -- molecules don't leave fossils behind!
  • The earliest life was not in the form of rocks. Life may have started on the surface of underwater rocks (see: iron-sulfur world theory), but it didn't "evolve" from those rocks. Either way the question doesn't have anything to do with evolution. Evolution only goes so far as to say that if we keep tracing back the ancestry of species, all seem to be converging on a single origin. Since anything before that origin was non-living, evolution says absolutely nothing about it. Instead you have to look to chemistry and such. Evolution only applies to things that can replicate themselves imperfectly. The relevant field of study is called abiogenesis. Punch it into Wikipedia to learn more.
  • Some of us did, some of us not so much.
  • Maybe this is why theres sooo many rocks in my head :0
  • Some of us are still there...
  • "Dr" Kent Hovind seems to think so(well, he sells an awful lot of books for quite a bit of money by saying so...). But no, we did not. Drop in to www.talkorigins.org and search on "abiogenesis" for a wealth of expertly written material on the matter.
  • If we did evolve from rocks, then we're all stoned
  • Rocks = People? Hmmm....
  • i beleive we evolved from some kind of fish (i agree with darwin!)
  • No we did not. Rocks are non-living matter. Meaning that we just couldn't have evolved from dead matter. That would be spontateous generation, which has been proven false by scientists for years.
  • No; and that's not what the theory of evolution claims, either.
  • My brother did.
  • Let me ask my wife. . . please hold. . . Yes she said that I evolved from rocks, maybe even a boulder.
  • Who's to say whether we did or didn't.Any POV on this question is going to be a theory. Just imagine a group of aliens flying over the earth before man and all they saw was rocks and concluded earth was just covered with rocks. Now fast forward and these aliens came back an observed that the planet was now inhabited by people. Their conclusion could have been that the people evolved from the rocks....:)
  • have you seen any rocks in your drive way turn into people and just walk away. no your drive way still has rocks in it
  • I sure as heck didnt.
  • no a rock is in element life forms wouldve started from becteria that wouldve evoledto to mix of hydrgen oxygen and carbons would help make a suitable atmospher
  • do cows eat ice cream?
  • Civilization began so-o-o-o-o-o-o-o long ago I'm think'n we could have evolved from ANYTHING!!!! At this point in time in history, unless someone can tell me definitively from whence or whom, I just don't give a "rat's ass" any more WHERE we came from. Just. . . . . . . where do we go from HERE. . . .and . . . .HOW?!?
  • I thought rocks evolved from humans!
  • I don't know. I haven't a clue where we came from. There simply isn't enough available information.
  • Quite possibly...
  • Who is to say? Imagine if you will, billions of years ago when an alien vessel may have come close to the earth and saw no life, but did see a lot of rocks. Now fast forward to our time and these aliens come and look again at earth, when one remarks to the other, "Why look, the rocks have peopled. The planet is now full of people!" So I guess it would depend on your point of view. lol
  • No, I don't think we have evolved from rocks.
  • apparently
  • Do you really want to believe that. You are an ancester to a rock. Or a monkey, or an ape type thing, or a bird? Im a human, and a human is designed in perfection. I have 2 eyes, 2 ears, a nose...hands, feet...a mind to think. I dont believe I evolved from anything. Everything is already perfect, all animals...all people, all plants...how can It keep evolving? Why would we wanna evolve more, so we can fly? Y?...LoL. I am a human, dont demean me by saying I evolved from something else.
  • NO WAY. ROCKS COME FROM DINSAUER WASTE. NO ROCKS ARE OUT AND CERTAIN ROCKS IN THE OCEAN ARE FROM METEORS.
  • One would certainly think so...How else can we explain the present state of affairs?
  • No, If we evolved from rocks, then we would of have a rock brain instead of a human brain.
  • Nope, no we didn't. We did not come from rocks or dirt unlike the Bible says. Fail! The earliest life is larger unkown. Lots of people here are claiming that it's bacteria, but the truth is, there's evidence to the contrary. The Mimi virus is 30 times larger than the larger virus and can produce certain proteins by itself. Something which is not typical of viruses. It could be a transition between viruses and bacteria. It also could've mutated into a bacteria and turned Prokaryote bacteria into Eukaryote bacteria. There's alot about the begining we don't know, but we certainly didn't come from dirt, unlike what the Bible says.
  • If we did, I suppose some people haven't fully evolved from the rock yet. Explains quite a bit.
