Nope. A repossession is someone taking their property back. Think of it as you lending your car to a friend, then they keep it for a month. You go to take it back, and they sit in it. Would you simply walk away? They can call the police if they wish to get you physically removed from the vehicle, although some repo men will do it themselves. If they have the proper paperwork that legally allows them to take the vehicle then anything you do to stop that is illegal. You can, if you want, demand to see their paperwork to ensure it's legal. They can't refuse that. Beyond that, though, they can simply take it. Some are nice enough to let you remove your possessions before they take the vehicle, but that's up to them.

The repoman cannot physically remove you. he is not a police officer. You could have a lawsuit if he touches you. I know Id file a lawsuit real quick.

I don't know, we live on an Indian Reservation and a few years ago my mom's car got repoed and the TRIBAL police are the ones who showed them where we lived at and she made me sit in the car so that she could call the police but come to find out they're the ones who showed them how to get to our house! LOL

In most states there are laws against "Breaching the Peace". This means a repo man cannot disturb the peace by making threats against you or by forcing you physically. This is why Repossessions take place in the middle of the night. A repo team cannot break into your property, such as a garage, however they can come onto your property. In some states if you are confronting a repo man then they are forced by law to back away although this does not happen in most cases. If a repo man touches you or damages your property then in some cases you are able to receive compensation for the damage. Check your state laws before acting. You do not want to get into deeper hot water. Remeber that during a repossession tempers are high and there is no car worth getting injured over.

You read wrong. They can't remove you but they can block your car and have the police physically remove you.
