That's an equipment violation. If you have it fixed before the return date on the ticket and bring proof, like a repair bill from a garage, the judge would probably just dismiss it.

This is not a moving violation. have the brake light repaired and show this proof to the judge. Your case should be dismissed. The whole idea of the citation is for you to repair the brake light.
