According to France it is.

Yep. "Really Dangerous" bunch too. They kill you if you stop following them, and chances are they'll try to cover it up too. http://theunfunnytruth.ytmnd.com/ Really scary...And I've looked it all up too. It's true. Be careful with these nut jobs. They are not an honorable bunch.

I dont know if the basic underlying root of scientology is fraudulent or not. But I think as with all beliefe structures it will be manipulated and warped by man into something it was never meant to be.
-
The technology they use is real. The storyline is... well, just remember that L Ron Hubbard was a science fiction writer before he became a... cult leader?
-
Is snow white? Does the pope have a big hat?
-
Wouldn't that depend on whose making the judgement call? Many think it works fine in their lives. Many are on the outside or disgruntled. How can anyone who is not involved or has been studying it say? But yes, it is a fraud.
-
I would think that it would depend on your personal belief in Scientology. The same could be said for any other religion (they are all based on faith, essentially).
-
They were found guilty by a French court, that's good enough in my book. It's a pity it doesn't happen elsewhere.
-
Worse than that, they're one of the largest scams of all time.
-
It is.
-
As fraud as any religion

Depends on if you look at everything that is sold as a fraud. It's a business like any other where those at the top experience the biggest wealth gains. The only difference is they have adapted to changing technology and information. For instance, they don't claim dinosaurs were put here to "test our faith" where some in the Christian hierarchy do. +3
-
It's a religion, so yes.
-
Is religion a fraud?
-
Yes.
-
I think it's a crock http://www.scientology.org/
-
Yes
-
The creator of Scientology said, a number of years before he created it, that if people REALLY wanted to make money they should create a religion. In short, yes.
-
Its always been fraud, its beyond me how they get all these celebrates to endorse it, i honestly think Tom Cruise and John Travolta actually believe in it, although i dont understand why. You would think they are smart enough to see through a sham, perhaps they laundry money through the church, thats about the only thing that makes sense to me, otherwise they are complete idiots.
-
No more or less so than most other religions. (Yes)
-
I wonder what the outcome would have been if Roman Polanski were a Scientologist? Things that make you say "hmmmmm..."
-
That's what court said yesterday. I feel all people managed religions might be fraud then. There are so much happening in those organizations world doesn't even know. Most of them cheat people in one way or the other.
-
Not at all. Just because you don't understand something from the outside does not make it a fraud. To be able to answer the question with any authority you would have to first understand their beliefs and not just what is availbale on the internet. :)
-
In my opinion, yes it is.
-
No more so than any other religion. +5
-
I don't think it was ever intended to be a fraud, but I don't agree with their beliefs.
-
My shrink would saw yes.
-
Look at the company it keeps in the religion category.
-
Yes! L Hubbard simply duplicated it's concepts from buddism while stranded at his jail playing staring time with other inmates ... hubbard is guilty as charged!
-
Fraud or a Cult.
-
Yes, it most certainly is a fraud. All religions are just that.
-

-
If not they are kooky.
-
Scientology is like its name not about God it is about self.
-

There was a link between Hubbard and Edward/Aleister Crowley in rocket engineer Jack Parsons. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Parsons_(rocket_engineer) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L._Ron_Hubbard Quote "Hubbard befriended Parsons and soon became sexually involved with Parsons's 21-year-old girlfriend, Sara "Betty" Northrup. Despite this Parsons was very impressed with Hubbard and reported to Crowley: [Hubbard] is a gentleman; he has red hair, green eyes, is honest and intelligent, and we have become great friends. He moved in with me about two months ago, and although Betty and I are still friendly, she has transferred her sexual affection to Ron. Although he has no formal training in Magick, he has an extraordinary amount of experience and understanding in the field. From some of his experiences I deduced that he is in direct touch with some higher intelligence, possibly his Guardian Angel. He describes his Angel as a beautiful winged woman with red hair whom he calls the Empress and who has guided him through his life and saved him many times. He is the most Thelemic person I have ever met and is in complete accord with our own principles. Hubbard, whom Parsons referred to in writing as "Frater H",became an enthusiastic collaborator in the Pasadena OTO. The two men collaborated on the "Babalon Working", a sex magic ritual intended to summon an incarnation of Babalon, the supreme Thelemite Goddess. It was undertaken over several nights in February and March 1946 in order to summon an "elemental" who would participate in further sex magic. As Richard Metzger describes it, Parsons used his "magical wand" to whip up a vortex of energy so the elemental would be summoned. Translated into plain English, Parsons jerked off in the name of spiritual advancement whilst Hubbard (referred to as "The Scribe" in the diary of the event) scanned the astral plane for signs and visions https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babalon_Working Quote "The Babalon Working was a series of magic ceremonies or rituals performed from January to March 1946 by author, pioneer rocket-fuel scientist, and occultist Jack Parsons and Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. This ritual was essentially designed to manifest an individual incarnation of the archetypal divine feminine called Babalon. The project was based on the ideas of Aleister Crowley, and his description of a similar project in his 1917 novel Moonchild. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babalon

Yes it is but it's not substantially different than all religions. People have faith in what they want to have faith in and they enjoy feeling superior to people who are not religious. Catholicism has no more validty (and a lot more child molesters) than Voodoo. Believing one religion is "real" and another is "fraud" is fantasy but it makes people feel better.
