I'm in Washington. It isn't legal here, which is funny because we're the most liberalist state ever. I don't think gay people should be able to marry each other because it would infringe on the rights and liberties of us all! Oh... wait... IT DOESN'T! :) Don't think lesbian marriages are okay though... because it's wrong for chicks to get with people that aren't me. I'm just sayin...

It is not legal in Utah where I live. I believe it shold be though for the following reasons: 1- The constitution guarantees life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Who can limit where happiness can be found? 2- Marriage is a government regulated institution that provides legal and tax benefits to married couples. Although each religion has their own ceremony, they all have to get a license by the state first. 3- Church and State are seperated for a reason. Religion is the only thing holding gay marriage back. 4- Even if were recognized by the state, any religion has the right to deny their marriage services which means they are not effected by any law. I could go on but these are the basics. If two people of legal age love each other, no one should get in the way of their life. :)

Been through this before. I'll just say no, no.
-
It is not legal in Tennessee. I think it should be.
-
It's not legal as far as I know but it should be.
-
I'm not trying to offend everyone out there whos like that, but its just wrong. My country doesn't allow these type of marriges because it mostly educated by my religion, Islam, which completly forbids this acion; it is a sin to have these marriges in my country and religion.

Yes, same-sex marriage is legal all throughout Canada: The REAL "Land of Liberty"
-
Michigan and no it's not. I am 100% in favor of allowing gays and lesbians to marry. They deserve to be unhappy just like every other married person. Joking...well a little...heh
-
SC-no. Of course it is not legal, we are in the "Bible Belt". It should be legal! Separation of church and state, the fact that they should have all the same benefits as heterosexual couples, and the list goes on.
-
There's no states in NZ, but it's legal in NZ... And it's better that way :) +5

No and No.

This question for me can not be answered in one or two sentences. Sorry.
-
No, and I don't know. Second question not so black and white. Only because even though we should be seperated by chuch and state it is not that easy. Anyone whos faith believes it is wrong shouldn't have to be forced to accept something against their faith. It is there right as a citizen to protest by legal means. IE. Vote On the other hand people should all be allowed to be happy. And I can understand their fustration. They want to have the same right that married people have like, death benifits or even the right to choose health care for their significant other or the right to share child custody if they split up or the legal parent passes away. As a christian myself, I find myself on the cross roads of this issue. Its not black or white for me, because I don't know for sure if one God made gay people gay and why, and two is would he be angry if I agree with gay people or if I stood in the way of their happiness, since we are all Gods children?

I live in New South Wales in Australia, and it is not legal here. The Government has declared once more it has no intention of legalizing it just yet. I feel it should be legal. If in someones mind marriage is the ultimate way of commitment, then I see no reason not to allow someone from expressing this. Am gay myself and would love to have the option to marry at least.
-
unfortunately in my country it's illegal. It should be legal.
-
it isnt illegalno and nor should it be. its upto you andonlyyou what you do with you body which is also why sex shouldn't be illegal if you are under 16, if you and the person who do it are unde 16 then thats fine but over 16 that should be illegal..
-
No, they are not legal here. Yes, they should be. The laws are sexist. Basically, the government tells me I cannot marry someone because she has a vagina instead of a penis. It's discrimination based on both sexuality and gender in my opinion.

I was reading the responses and am happy most of them are in favor of a persons right to be who they are. I'm not sure why people get so uptight about it. Why should anyone care what happens in other peoples bedrooms as long as no-one is being hurt.I mean how exactly does someone being gay effect a strangers life. It's not like it's contagious for those who are homophobic. I am not gay but appreciate that people can love eachother no matter what body they are in and I fully support gay marriage.
-
No it isn't. Yes it should be everywhere.
-
no it isnt, but it should be
-
nope and I really don't care who marries who or even what for that matter. Govt should have better things to do than take a morality stand on marriage. Morality, funny word when you put it together in a same sentence as the Govt.
-
I thought it was, but apparently there's some controversy delaying its legalization. I think it should be legal, just keep it out of the Christian churches.
-
No it isn`t. And I pray to God it never will be. Romans 1:26 through 1:32 And if you wonder about me I used to be gay until God set me free! So I really understand the deception.
-
I live in California, and it's illegal. However, New York, California, Rhode Island, New Mexico and Washington, DC, recognize same-sex marriages legally performed elsewhere. Yes, it should be legal, because the government has no right to tell you who you can and cannot marry. Same-sex marriage is a sin in the Bible, but not everyone believes in God or is religious.
-
I live in New Zealand, I understand gay marriages are not legal but civil unions are, which gives them the same rights as a marriage except they can not adopt children. I think they should be allowed to marry if they want to do so. It in no way harms anyone else and they should have the right to be with the one they love.
-
Nope. But it should be legal because its a civil right.
-
No it is not, and yes it should. Homosexuals should be free to be as miserable as the rest of us! - Seriously, there is no reason to keep them from having all the rights other people have. No, it is not a slippery slope, and I don't recognize the bible as a moral authority.
-
Missouri. No it is not. And no it should not be. Marriage is a religous institution. Not a gov. instituation. That is why people get married in a church. The gov. should have a union of some sort that is just a gov. institution. Separation of church and state as everyone wants to yell about. Where you have to do both go to the church (marriage-in the eyes of God) and to gov. (gov. union-to get the taxes and next of kin, property rights etc.)

It's legal in the UK though it's called civil partnership, not marriage. As far as I can find, the legal rights are the same for married couples and civil partners. The only difference I can find is that a civil partnership cannot be performed in conjunction with a religious ceremony; ie it cannot be officiated by a priest for instance. You have to have the religious ceremony (if any) seperately. Gay/lesbian couples get the same rights to adopt children in the UK; indeed marriage/partnership is not a condition; it's perfectly possible for a single person to adopt children too, if they meet other criteria.
-
I'm not American, but it is legal in my country (UK) and yes, it should be.
-
It's not and it should be.
-
To be honest I haven't got a clue because it doesn't concern me. But if they want a legally binding contract which means something to them, that's their business.
-
I think it is here in NH
-
No. I don't really care either way. It is God's place to judge their actions not mine.
