#1 I am your God.
-
Do not take the name of the Lord, your God in vain.
-
Observe the sabbath day and keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. 13For six days you shall labour and do all your work. 14But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, or your son or your daughter, or your male or female slave, or your ox or your donkey, or any of your livestock, or the resident alien in your towns, so that your male and female slave may rest as well as you. That darn donkey just won't take a day off!
-
The first. We all stuff that one up, so it's just downhill from there...that is why we need God's grace to save us. Our efforts are ineffective, like trying to reach a shore 20 miles away under our own power...we need a lifeline from That Distant Shore.
-
I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other gods before me. This is the single most difficult to keep, even for Christians. It's so easy to chase after and worship the things in life that are desirable. Money, big house, fast cars, phat job..........just to name a few. These things so easily become the "gods" of our lives, and many times we don't even realize it. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having a nice house, or nice car, or money........the Bible says that we CAN enjoy the "fruit of our labor" ! It's just that the "fruit" has a way of becoming a rotten, moldy idol without our realizing it.
-
All of them consistently.
-
I have trouble not coveting my neighbor's wife, in a figurative sense. My literal neighbor's wife is like 60. I don;t have any issue there:)
-
"Thou shalt not lie." Lying is a defense mechanisms humans use to get out of trouble, or to please themselves or others. Lying is something everyone has done, and is very hard to avoid, when constantly being surrounded by people.
-
ahh yeah - Babycakes can ya send me the list already ~ then I'll let ya know :)
-
I think it is probably different for every person. I actually think the 10 commandments are really easy to follow. I just don't want to follow them all of the time. For example, I am not really being obedient to my parents. They don't know I have a boyfriend and I have been with him for over a year. I want to be with him and I don't want to lose him.
-
Some of them are pure common sense, while others, as well as the seven cardinal sins, basically construct the core of being human and can therefore never be avoided. Everybody lies and everybody envies, but it's pretty easy not to kill someone. :/
-
To me all of them. But I still try and do my best to obey them.
-
It's very difficult to tell. I know that the one I actually break the most is the whole "don't take the Lord's name in vain thing." But what really constitutes not following a commandment? Would it be, say, willingness to break it? If that is the case, then I've never in my life followed any of the ten commandments.
-
G'day Babycakes, Thank you for your question. Not coveting my neighbours wife. Regards
-
Actually I don't know the 10 commandments so will you be please be kind enough to let me know something about them? (( I only have a rough idead of what they actually are))
-
the one where i cant kill people...
-
Honor my mother.
-
I think I can speak for most people when I say "do not covet". Do you even know what that means? It goes beyond taking. It means that you are not supposed to want what your neighbors have. Why the hell not!?!
-
I find all of these quite difficult.
-
Thou shalt not kill... I run into at least 10 people a month that deserve it.. But we all know we can't do that. If not by morality then by self preservation.

Rick MyresHere is you thumbs up Y
-
Jenny The Great ⭐Rick, thanks! As we see, violence isn't the answer.
-
Rick MyresJenny you're most welcome.
-
Jenny The Great ⭐Rick, likewise.
-
Archie BunkerSometimes violence is the only answer. That's why God gave his archangels swords.
-
Jenny The Great ⭐Archie Bunker, sometimes does not apply to Christians. As for archangels having swords and "that's why," that is literal thinking on your behalf. Archangels have swords in the "spiritual realm" to prevent Satan and his fallen angels from entering Heaven. On Earth, Christians have a two-edged sword known as The Holy Bible to defend the truth. Hebrews 4:12 "For the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart."
-
-
Not any are hard to follow if you are committed to God. 1 John 5:3 "For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome."
-
I'm far far away from perfect, and guilty of breaking them, it's not as easy when Jesus elaborated on them.... Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

The not killing part. Yeah. That didn't work out so well for the other guy.

If you are a true born again Christian having the Lord Jesus Christ in your life you are not required to follow any of the 10 Commandments. They are for non-Christians. See Romans 10:4 for proof.

Hello Thinker, The Ten Commandments were written by God Himself. He wrote them with His finger. Moses DID NOT write The 10 Commandments as you think. The Mosaic law consists of 613 commandments that do not apply to Christians. -

EVERYONE, it is funny how many people take Scripture out of context. Let's see what the following verse says in this supposedly proof of Romans 10:4: Romans 10:5 "For Moses writes about the righteousness that is based on the law, that the person who does the commandments shall live by them." -
Thinker
Jesus gave us two new commandments in Matthew 22:36-40. These two commandments replaced all the profits and the law. Eight of the 10 commandments are negative where as all of the commandments given us by Jesus Christ are positive. The 10 commandments written with Jesus' word for example: Thou shalt not murder is now, "If you love your neighbor you will not murder them." It is not I who have taken from context but you. Love always wins. -
Thinker
Also, If you do not profess Jesus Christ as Lord then you are still under the old law including the 10 Commandments. Jesus said He came not to abolish the law but to fulfill it. The law is still there but Jesus filfilled it for Christians. If you do not believe this you are saying Jesus Christs death on the cross was for nothing. The Jews do not believe Jesus is the Messiah and are still under the old law as are atheist. The moment they accept Jesus as Lord they are no longer under the old law but under the Age of Grace and the Law of Love. -

Quote: "Jesus gave us two new commandments in Matthew 22:36-40." They were additional commandments to the old commandments by the word NEW. That is what Scripture says. It doesn't say REPLACEMENT in Matthew 22:26-40. Quote: "These two commandments replaced all the profits and the law." There is no such thing as "profits" and the law. But Jesus fulfilled the law of the prophets in Judaism who are still under the Mosaic law. Jesus made it clear in God's Law. Matthew 5:18 "For truly, I say to you, until Heaven and Earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished." Since when has Heaven and Earth passed away?????????????? *Facepalm* -

Quote: "Also, If you do not profess Jesus Christ as Lord then you are still under the old law including the 10 Commandments." Irrelevant comment. No one is saying the name of Jesus should not be confessed. We are going over God's Law and the Mosaic law. Quote: "The law is still there but Jesus filfilled it for Christians." That's the Mosaic law. You cannot prove in the Bible WHERE does it say the 10 Commandments no longer apply. On the contrary, Christians uphold God's Law for guidance. Romans 3:31 "Do we then overthrow the Law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the Law." -

FOLKS: someone needs to brush-up his Bible. -
Thinker
Maybe this will help you to understand, that is IF your JW mind can wrap around it: Non-Christians are under Every Law in the whole Bible. Christians are under One law. (See below) (See Below)-- Bible Verses for Christians only, NOT for NON-Christians Jas 2:12 - So whenever you (Christians) speak, or whatever you do, remember that you (Christians) will be judged by the law of love, the law that set you free. Ro 13:8 - Pay all your debts, except the debt of love for others. You can never finish paying that! If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill all the requirements of God's law. Ro 13:9 - For the commandments against adultery and murder and stealing and coveting – and any other commandment – are all summed up in this one commandment: "Love your neighbor as yourself." Gal 5:14 - For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." 1Jo 3:23 - And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us. 1Jo 4:21 - And God himself has commanded that we must love not only him but our Christian brothers and sisters, too. 2Jo 1:5 - And now I want to urge you, dear lady, that we should love one another. This is not a new commandment, but one we had from the beginning. 2Jo 1:6 - Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning. Ro 13:10 - Love does no wrong to anyone, so love satisfies all of God's requirements. 1Co 10:23 – All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. 2Co 5:17 - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Ga 6:15 - For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation. Ga 5:13 - For you have been called to live in freedom – not freedom to satisfy your sinful nature, but freedom to serve one another in love. Note: this is the "sin principal" part of us. Being unloving, unkind, unforgiving, unthankful, being mean, selfish, rude, etc opposite of 1 Cor 13. God designed the human nature and said it was very good. We added the "sin principal" part. James 3:17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without favoritism and hypocrisy. Acts 10:13 Then a voice said to Peter, "Get up, Peter; kill and eat." 14 But Peter said, "No, Lord! I have never eaten food that is unholy or unclean." 15 But the voice said to him again, "God has made these things clean so don't call them 'unholy'!" 16 This happened three times (Note: this was not only about food, but almost everything. Jesus greatly change very many things, anything that was “unclean” is not clean. Many other things also ok now as long as it does not violate the law of love.) -

Quote: "Maybe this will help you to understand, that is IF your JW mind can wrap around it:" ANYBODY READING: I now am a Jehovah's Witness because I disagree with Thinker? WTH?????????????? Quote: "Christians are under One law." What a coincidence that God's Law just happens to be there as you said: "The law is still there" Very funny, I do agree the Mosaic law does not apply to Christians, but if Jesus wanted to abolish God's Law, He would have done it. Rather than love itself as you say, people would be lying, cheating, stealing and killing to ABOLISH The Ten Commandments without any consequences. Matthew 16:27 "For the Son of Man will come in His Father's glory with His angels, and then He will repay each one according to what he has done." Revelation 22:12 "Behold, I am coming soon, bringing My recompense with Me, to repay each one for what he has done." -

The contrary to your remarks states that not an IOTA, not a DOT, will pass from the Law in Matthew 5:18 to speak of God's Law. What you see in The Ten Commandments is nothing unpleasant to the Mosaic law being fulfilled. Who would want to practice stoning people to death, including rebellious children, build altars for animal sacrifices and many other brutal laws that we know of?????????????? Without a doubt, this is were the word FULFILL comes in. -

Quote: "NOT for NON-Christians Jas 2:12" James 2:12 only proves you are taking Scripture out of context. Let's read the Amplified version: James 2:12 "Speak and act [consistently] as people who are going to be judged by the law of liberty [that moral law that frees obedient Christians from the bondage of sin]. By the passage of James, God's Law is MORAL, as it gives freedom. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=James+2%3A12&version=AMP It's not looking good for you. The epic failed when you answered the question in the subject by bringing up Romans 10:4 that speaks of the Mosaic law in the following verse.
