No I love Valentines Day
-
I do believe it has a point. But I also believe its point has warped over the years. What is wrong with having a day designed to celebrate love? Personally, nothing is wrong with that. But people who expect gifts, and fancy ones, not only take the meaning out of what Valentine's Day should be, but also contributed to making it another Hallmark Holiday.
-
This year it is.
-
you know the whole thing started when a guy got his head chopped off for loving the wrong girl
-
Yes, I find it to be completely contrived.
-
yeah, since i've never had a valentine before i don't care for it much.
-
Just another holiday for the card and candy companies if you love someone you show it all the time not just on a special day .
-
Yes I do! Very much so. I'm not going to explain what I think about it because I have no intention or desire to vex anyone.
-
Only if you are single.
-
For singles it's bruital. For couples its a day to forget life, and just focus on eachother. If you truly love some one though, I don't think you need Valentine's Day, because everyday should be Valentine's Day!
-
To me, it's just another stupid Hallmark Holiday. no disrespect meant towards St. Valentine, but I just dont see the point of having a holiday to celebrate love. it humiliating for those who never have a valentine, and if you really love someone, you should be showing it all the time... it is pointless indeed
-
do any of them really have a point? For the most part, holidays are either contrived by the greeting card companies or they took a small holiday and blew it up into an industry.
-
I think it's a pointless celebration, although it doesn't fall within my country's definition of a holiday, which is time off work or school. Not very many years ago Valentine cards and gifts were anonymous - a part of the old-fashioned courtship ritual. I think it was much nicer then.
-
Valentine's day is the ultimate Hallmark holiday. Rather than do something to show the person you love how you feel, you're supposed to buy chocolates or candy, flowers, a card, and a gift (preferably something shiny). If you can measure love materially, this might work. But I don't think that's really the way it is, or should be.
-
I for example just enjoy the holidays and any fun tradition, it may be pointless but they only come once a year and you only have one life why not enjoy it lol
-
No, Valentine's Day is such a cute holiday. You get to show the person you love how much you really do love them. And then there's all the gifts!
-
only for us dateless losers
-
I agree. But the chances of beau forgetting about it this year are slim to none :( Alas, I will have to play along.
-
I feel it is a commercialized holiday, and yes, pointless. I don't feel one should show their love or celebrate because a certain date tells you it is the day to do it! To me, it is just another day, and a way for businesses and people to make money. True love (or even crushes-whatever-lol) does not need a day to tell us to show it. You should always be showing it!
-
its SINGLES AWARENESS DAY dammit
-
If there is a lady in your life no. The points you earn can be positive or they can be negative.
-
like ALL holidays, pointless, stupid and nothing more than a way for corporations to get you to buy junk you don't need.
-
It's great for chocolate makers and flower shops.
-
Yes, except for Hallmark. They need the money from all those cards sales
-
Yes, it's pointless.
-
Yes, but to young lovers who don't know how to more intimately express themselves, its an easy out!!!
-
i think its pointless but thats just because im alone and bitter
-
Well kind of, but this year it will gain meaning. I'm getting married on that day ^_^
-
I used to believe that Valentine's is the product of our capitalist society to make us spend money in blablablala.... Then I realized that even though it is true, you don't have to conform to that. Look beyond for the true meaning of st. valentine's which is to akwnoledge your love for those who love you back. You don't have to spend a cent to do say it.
-
pointless... i don't like roses as flowers.. chocolate is great BUT i can eat that anyotertime of the year.. just like someone can show their love for someone anytime of the year!
-
I think all the hype about it is pointless. Just like all the hype at Christmas. It's mostly commercial.
-
Yes it is pointless it should be everyday and no need for a daily present a single flower should be more than enough. Regards.
-
It's just ordinary day for me....
-
too much hype
-
It is pointless in my life......
-
YOU get a holiday for Valentine's Day? Lucky you.
-
Along with the many others.
-
It's not a holiday. There is no such thing as a pointless holiday because I love having a day off. It's just a fluke.. or something lol
-
Yes very pointless.. just another hallmark holiday
-
Very much so.
-
It isn't a holiday here! :(
-
It is pretty pointless and poignant if you are alone.
-
It has a point, just not a deep one. It's not a federal holiday...just a cute, fun one like Halloween. It brings happiness to some people and the message behind it is good. If you don't want to celebrate it, that's fine but all the anti-valentine stuff is getting tiresome.
-
You cant get mad if no one gets you anything....try harder next year!!! Im so tired of people getting mad or depressed over silly things such as hoildays or any other special out of the ordinary occassion. Appreciate little the little things in life...hell. Misery loves company and its not all about money or material things..saying you love someone should be enough but because your are broke at the time doesnt mean you have to be a downer that brings everyone around you down and that my friend is just not fair. Plus it's called self-esteem, you are the controller of your emotions and if you cant control them then you need help.
