  • i think its more of a hobbie.
  • It depends which country you are in / In England people ar not allowed to hunt
  • Competitive shooting may be called a sport. Hunting is more of a passtime.
  • Where is the sport??? If it were humans they were shooting would it be called sport? NO! Its a power trip of some inadequate humans over a defenceless species. If the animals were able to shoot back, then that would be more sporting Its killing/murder!!!
  • Yeah, I think it is,...It requires skill, and can be extremely competitive.
  • Some people could consider it a sport. Most people think that its not a sport unless it envoulves a Ball. Example: VolleyBALL, BasketBALL, BaseBALL, but I believe Diving to be a sport, and Hunting! So in conclusion, yes. =]
  • i think hunting is a sprot not for the whole sitting in a deer stand for like 4 hours but for the afer you shoot something, chasing it, the suspense building up, i like it and consider ti a sport, i apoligize for disagreeing with others
  • Depends on which side of the gun you're on, doesn't it?
  • Surely it could only be called a sport if both sides were equally equipped; Therefore, it isn't a sport until the animals have guns too.
  • Apparantly it is, hardly fair in my opinion though.
  • i would say that hunting is a sport..lets take forexample africa, there when u hunt you run miles, and miles without water and its a very good training..you are on the otherside hunting for food but also training..i say if you are not happy with the way your body is,and if you feel that you are big then take a trip to africa..there, in one ore two months you will be slim like hell..so yes hunting is a sport.. peace=)
  • I dont see how a man/woman with a weapon can call shooting little fluffy animals a sport. Sport is or should be competition between two willing and equally matched paticipants. If the so called 'hunters' want sport then they should go into a forest each with a gun and shoot at each other. Thats a sport which I'd support.
  • i think hunting is a sport...i hunt, and it takes skills, practice, and dedication.
  • It's a sport if you go out on horseback or on foot to a place where the animals don't expect you armed with a bow and arrow or a crossbow and a good knife and perhaps a good hunting dog. If you go out with a high caliber rifle and enough other gadgetry to attack a small country, riding some sort of ATV to a place where you have been feeding the deer corn all year to fatten them up and make them trust you...I can't even think of a word that is derogatory enough to describe it. Likewise with chasing game to exhaustion with an airplane or helicopter, then landing and shooting them point blank. Ditto, walking up to baby seals and clubbing them to death. Sport is a contest between equals - a matching of wits. If you need the meat, and you truly hunt, using your wits and knowledge of the wild and showing a bit of respect, and you kill only what you can use, and you use everything that you kill. I have no problem with it. Killing for pleasure while armed to the teeth is not a sport. It is just organized bullying.
  • I think that hunting could be a little more fair and manly and than it would be more sportsmanlike. A real hunt to me involves total submersion in the wild. Just the clothes on your back and maybe a knife. You find the animal, and you wrestle it to death and eat/use every part of it. More fair that way, and that's coming from someone who owns guns.
  • I can't convince any of the hunters I know that it's not a sport.
  • Hunters would deff say yes!
  • Not really. How could it be?Animals don`t have weapons, don`t go into where people live looking to kill them. But hunters say it is.There are alot around here.Alot in my family...If you follow the rules, eat what you take,it is not too bad.We eat meat that didn`t get such a good life as wildlife does. But some people around here go bezerck at deer season!Have to be careful and hope not to get shot by accident...It`s good to know you could survive. But it is Not really a sport. Not at all. They just call it that.
  • Hunting is a sport, man's been chalenging himself to it since the dawn of time, always hunting, always fishing, always making up other sports, you tell me hunting isnt a sport and yet you think it should be there because what would happen when the whole world doesnt hunt for a year..? exactly now, dont tell me its not a sport, its the oldest sport there is.
  • No, it's an outdoor recreation, not a sport, unless it's being done in competition. A sport is some activity with a governing body or association with a firm set of rules to judge the competition. Shooting, target shooting, silhouette hunting are sports as they are regulated and have rules for competition. But most people just call anything that they do outdoors a sport when it really is just a recreational activity.
  • Something is only a "sport." when both parties involved have to chance to partake, play and win. How does getting shot in the head imply sport? Hunting is hunting... The other party involved... Is literally like a deer in the headlights.
  • Yes it is a sport. Gaming is when you hunt animals but people also go againist each other sometimes, but it is a sport
  • Only when the "target" is free in their own world. You can't "hunt" rabbits in a hutch, and you can't "fish" in a populated pond...
  • I commented in the wrong box dont look in this box SORRY
  • I think hunting is a sport, but a dangerous one. There have been reports of fatal accidents which occurred during hunting.
  • no its an outdoor activity. a sport implys competition. hunting an animal that has no idea its being hunted isnt sport. now get two humans in a forest hunting each other, thats a sport.
  • Unless for self defense any killing is a Crime, noy a sport.
  • Only when you're hunting a human. They know how to get away. Hunting animals... Is an outdoor activity. No sport in it really. Sitting in a tree house make of tree camoflage with deer scent on your deer colored pants? Really sporting of you dude!
  • No, it is an outdoor activity, as there is very little sporting behaviour involved.
  • I would call it an outdoor activity. You just have to be patient and have good aiming skills.
  • Its not as easy as people that dont hunt assume it is. Thats why most people pay farmers to kill animals.
  • Well I guess I can change a airhead can I. Peace
  • If you go hunting grizzly bears armed with nothing but a knife, it's a sport. If you blast the brains out of small fluffy mammals from a distance with a high powered scoped rifle it's not.
  • Hunting Is a sport, fishing Is a sport... If on sport center they put the world series of poker, than hunting and fishing Is definitely a sport =)
  • No sport of mine. If your hungry eat a tree!
  • Anyone who thinks that killing is a sport needs to be medicated. It would truly be a sport if the animals could shoot back.
  • well look at it like this.... over 100,000,000 animals die to "sport" hunting theres a type of sheep that was hunted. Most hunting today is done for "recreational" purposes -- for the pure pleasure of pursuing and killing an animal. Hunters generally target trophy animals like those with the largest antlers, the biggest horns, etc. Often the prized parts are removed, while the rest of the body is left to rot in the field. now don't forget because of "sport" hunting hundreds of species went extinct and some still are. so now think about it can you be honest and say is pointing a gun at some thing and pulling the trigger a sport, if so if you and your buddies got guns and shot the first innocent thing you see in the street and tell me if thats considered a sport to you and every one thats around and tell the judge at your trial its a sport, then tell me how did it go? do you still think its a sport?
  • Sure. It's fun.
  • Only if you arm your prey.
  • it is in some countries but it shouldnt be....how could you be so cruel.
  • Yes. So is racism.
  • There are, theoretically, two ways to make it a sport, if you define a sporting event as contention between fairly matched rivals. 1. Arm the deer so they can shoot back. 2. Replace hunter orange with deer suits that the hunters must wear, and let them hunt each other. If neither of those is acceptable then hunting actually becomes a pastime or a hobby of sorts, or in some cases a means of obtaining food.
  • It is many things... It is a necessary part of wildlife management today because urban sprawl has upset the natural balance, While most hunters could buy more meat with the money they spend hunting than they actually bag, it can be a source of meat, It is a pass time hunters enjoy, but not everyone will. That's their choice, just as some enjoy needle point but I wouldn't. Whether or not you call it a sport is a matter of semantics. It requires skill and, depending on where and how you hunt, physical conditioning if you hope to be successful.
  • To some its a sport..to others its murder!!
  • Not to the Hunted.
  • yes and no it is a fun sport a faimliy can take in but it is also a way to control animal popultaion if there is toomany deases start spreading more cars hit deer and hunting is a fun way to fill a frezzer full of great food
