  • NO . I love boxing. As I do most sports
  • i dont think so .how often is there a fight.usualy a long distance apart.its up to the boxer if he wants some kinda brain damage or not.
  • I have never seen any redeeming quality in a sport where two grown men or women get in a ring and beat each other until one is down or unconscious. Not to mention for many, it causes eventual brain problems or even death. So many other real "sports" that are enjoyable to watch and also play. Reminds me of cock fighting in a way. Just abit too barbaric for me.
  • not even ,if you want to see violence watch ultimate fighting.boxing provides one of the best workouts.if youe not interested in getting in a ring,do it as a workout burning up to 1800 calories an hour.(kickboxing)
  • It really depends on what you call violence. I would normally consider punching someone to be a violent act, but when put into the context of a boxing match where 2 trained people have a fight to see who the best is, then have a hug and congratulate the winner when it's finished, i do not consider to be violence. I know that sounds a bit ridiculous, as violence is an inherent part of the sport, but i do not consider it to be 'too' violent when both guys know what the rules are and do not break them, whilst knowing the dangers and fully accepting them.
  • of course not.
  • No, boxing has been one of my favorite sports for years. I even boxed some while in the military, not for the team, but in "smokers" set up by the unit I was in.
  • Yes we live in civilised times now dont we? I would hardly call it a sport either.
  • I heard a doctor on TV say once [as BenThereB4 just did] that "Boxing is the only sport he knew of where the SOLE goal is to beat your opponent until he was unconscious." He then went on to say it was barbaric. My father taught boxing, got out early, and told us things that make me tend to agree.
  • For me it is. I hate watching it, just people punching and hurting each other is not amusing to me.
  • I like to watch amateur boxing. I do think it is a dangerous sport but I do not think I could label it "too dangerous". <many sports have injuries life threatening .. even death ie: NASCAR> Just did a quick search and found some statistics listed from years ago. http://www.nyssf.org/statistics1998.html
  • No, it is a good respectable sport. Do not think that it is just 2 men or women in a ring beating up on each other. There is a lot of strategy and skill involved, just like any other sport. For those of you who disagree, try it some time, I think you will gain a new way of looking at it.
  • NO I love boxing
  • Yes. I saw Muhammed Ali when he was a young man, healthy and strong, and I see what boxing has done to him, and it makes me ill. Hiring people to accept brain damage to entertain us is disgusting to me; it's as wicked as having gladiators fight wild animals in the arenas of ancient Rome. The explicit purpose of such "entertainment" is to watch people getting hurt -- men, usually men from poor families for whom this is their best or only hope of making it big (and sometimes women) -- mutilating themselves (by presenting themselves for beatings) to amuse a crowd.
  • no boxing is not a violent sport but its a high contact sport. and boxing has rules and regulations which if not followed then your disqualified. a violent sport would be something like ufc or anything of that sort. but im still a big fan of both.
  • Yes. It's one of the most stupid "sports" there is.
  • Not if you use a really good packing tape!
  • Boxing is to some degree violent, however, what is boxing about? Well, most would say "hitting the other, causing as much damage as possible". Well, here's what boxing is about to me: An amazing commitment to a sport, the training required to even do amateur is staggering, it requires fitness endurance, pain endurance, strength, mental stamina, skill and speed. Very few other sports require all of these, most often only requiring a few, being either a strength or endurance sport and... Bravery, nobody likes to get hit, nobody likes to put themselves in a situation where you can get it. People do it because they want to test themselves, bravery is being afraid but doing it, stupidity is not caring, seems as boxers avoid getting hit I think they care. Focus on the violence if you want, but it's actually less violent than most martial arts. In amatuer boxing, that which most people partake in, the aim is not to do as much damage to the other but to show as much skill as possible. You also wear large gloves and a padded helmet.
  • Not in the least.
  • For girls yes. Girls shouldn't participate in that and do more feminine activities.
  • Yes My Sensei once said that a sport that makes your body and mind worse than before is not truly worthy to be called a sport
  • Nope. Boxing is a gladiator sport. And a voluntary one.
  • No, I do not think it is too violent. UFC is worse.
  • depends on what theyre doing when theyre boxing
  • Competitive sports have generally been somewhere between mildly and extremely violent from the earliest competitions known to man. Most involve some kind of battle and boxing is actually an extremely high level of demonstrating skill and strength. The people who find it too violent should simply not watch it. Boxing is certainly no less repugnant to to people who hate it as competitive ice dancing is to me.
  • Nope, I did it and loved it!
  • Yes, Boxing is horrible. What glory is there in the fact one person is better at beating another's brains out. Stupid, not even a sport.
  • Any sport where the propose is to cause a concision in another person is too violent.
  • I don't watch it. I don't like watching two people beat each other. But to each their own.
  • Isaiah 2:4 describes our future as tranquil and free of aggression “they will beat their swords into plowshares... nor will they learn war anymore”. Why invest time into something that we will not use in the long term?
  • I love all contact sports.
  • MMA is worse
  • i think boxing is too dangerous a sport. It can cause life long brain damage. On an indirect personsal note, My uncle boxed in college, U. of Penn. edu. engineering. He was a middle weight. In a match an opponent punched him in his left ear Result was from then on my uncle Harry was deaf in that ear. He did okay for himself he went into being a stockbroker.
  • I was an amateur boxer in my youth. I don't think it's too violent a sport.
  • i do.....punching someone in the head is Violent
  • Yes because they end up getting bloodied and bruised which is wrong. I can never understand for the life of me why some people see violent sports such as boxing and bullfighting as entertainment. It’s morally wrong and some people are messed up in the head to like what they see with the violence and cruelty before them. This world of people is messed up.
  • I love all contact sports.
  • Yes. But on the upside it teaches discipline.
  • Boxing is a very violent sport. In a boxing match, an opponent often receives 30-100 blows to the head depending on how many rounds it goes. Boxers have died in the ring: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_deaths_due_to_injuries_sustained_in_boxing
  • It is.
  • I like all contact sports.
