I take it as they are finished, which does not make a lot of sense because wouldn't they be buttered or jammed in this case to be considered finished? Hell I don't know I am just rambling on. :P
-
They are in big trouble. If you playing a game they have lost. Or if they say toasted, they are drunk.
-
My father says it when he's tired.
-
That they are in trouble. The reasons for saying this could be different. It's either that they did something bad and they are in trouble. Or they didn't do something ie homework or chores and they are going to be in trouble for that.] For example: "Oh no, my mom realized I ate the last cookie. I'm toast." "Shoot, I fell asleep last night before finishing my final paper. It's due in 5 min. I'm toast."
-
I don't know, but I think I'd want to eat them :)
-
TO me it means, they are all done in, vulnerable, precarious position, ready to be eaten.
-
they screwed something up and somebody is gonna get piseed at them to say the least.

-
I understand it to mean they are burned out, meaning a mistake or something that got them in trouble. Best regards.
-

When bread becomes toast, the process is irreversible, and the expression usually denotes that one has gotten themselves in a situation with little choice and a more often than not unpleasant and inevitable conclusion...like, toast, you either eat it, throw it out, or feed the dog with it lol.
-
their goose is cooked and it is a "several" and i mean several course meal! toast being one of the smallest dishes served... warm if the cook really knows his timing *.*
