I'll go with a Komodo Dragon, they look funny and kinda cute. Although I'm not a big fan of reptiles that go existing beyond my video games.

Blue tongue lizards. An Aussie lizard, quite large and not uncommon in the peripheries of Sydney. Where we used to live, there was a reserve behind us, and quite a colony. When I put in ponds, they came in frequently, much to my cat's horror. I used to come to get her from the garage in the morning, and she would often be on top of the freezer, petrified because a blue tongue had gotten in. Not that they would hurt her. THey are all bluff. But they are big and they puff up and expel air to scare off predators. I used to carefully pick them up by the tail and take them outside. They aren't too agile, so the chance of getting bitten was small. I remember my ex brother in law's parents coming from Canada, and as they were leaving, one was in front of their car, sunning itself. They were terrified, but I just picked it up. THey took photos of me, as if I were Crocodile Dundee. LOL They are quite personable lizards, and very intelligent. ONe took up residence under the front driveway and used to come out for food when I called the birds.
