From THE MANY programs I watched and listened to, the best time to prune any tree is in the fall, after the first frost. The tree is dormant for the winter. It has time to recover from the damage you caused AND the harmful bacteria are kept at a minimum. In the spring, it will resume growing and will be on the way to a much fuller life with more appealing limbs branches and leaves. Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering it!
