Had to have the engine replaced in 98 bonneville, climate control flashing and AC putting out hot air. Mechanic replaced control unit still flashing so he gave up, don't think he knows how to reset it. Can I do that myself and will that fix the problem?

Why yes, as a matter of fact that will fix the problem. Shut the climate control off before you turn your car engine off. Simply unhook the negative battery cable for a minumum of 10 minutes, then hook it back up. It may take several days for the computer to reset itself but it will. It's amazing that it takes a woman to figure out such a compicated GM product!
