Yes. I can't say if they have helped bring down our electricity bill, but they do last longer.
-
I did but I still was worrying about the environment so I started sitting in the dark for extending periods of time. That got a little boring so I decided to come on Answerbag. The obvious delima arose about my unneccesary power consumption so I came up with an idea. I got an old alternator form a car and hardwired it into my pc's power supply. I mounted the alternator on a 2X4 and then ran a belt to an old blower cage from an evaporative cooler. I put a squirrel in there and made him run. After about 20 minutes or so, we would start to slow down so then I got more squirrels and alternated thier run times to correspond with my answer typing. This works fine for casual browsing of the internet but if I want to do any serious gaming, I have to soak the squirrels nuts in crack.

I have started switching but I haven't changed them all out. I hope it will make a difference in the electric bill because they are expensive.
-
Some bulbs yes, others no. I am concerned about the mercury in them though.
-
Yes, only a few are incandescent and I hardly ever turn them on
-
yeah why not?
-
Yes, I finally did. The initial price for all of them wasn't easy..I hope they last as long as they say they will:)
-
About 3/4. Including halogen lights for one of my fish tanks!
-
We've got one, but I'm not completely converting until the whole mercury thing sorts itself off. i'd rather just shut it off.
-
Yeah, had them for quite some time now. The "glow" slightly different and when turned on are a bit delayed but last much longer (or maybe it just depends on the brand). If you havent gotten any yet you should go for it.
-
These light bulbs may save energy, but will they save a humans sight? Most appear very dull.
-
Sorta. I can't wait for the winter though. I'm putting those lovely incandescents right back up there.
-
yes i have.
-
My home is about 90% flourescent.
-
yes, all of the light bulbs in my house are and have been for years, but I am also concerned about the mercury issue.
-
I did a couple of months ago. It made a noticeable difference on my utility bill.
-
Yes, and now I'm hoping I'm not contributing to mercury poisoning. I'm thinking about switching back in the bathroom, however. Compact flourescents don't handle being switched on and off all day very well. They keep buring out. They are great in rooms where we tend to turn them on at sunset and leave them on until bedtime, however.
-
I have about 10 compact fluorescents installed around the house.
-
The CFL's? Yeah. We've got a few of them.
-
Yeah, I did, on the promise that they would reduce my electric bill by 30% and last like 20 years. So far, my electric bill is higher (despite not running an air conditioner in two years) and three burnt out -- one in two days. So, it would seem, they didn't last long or save energy.
-
yes...I never really counted them. I just replace them with CFL's as the old ones burn out
-
I replaced all my light bulbs with the energy efficient type. I think the number was around 20 or so all over my house. And my electric bill has gone down by about 15%.
-
ya ive installed a couple they actually use more electricity also be careful if you brake one they have mercury in them so they are kinda bad for you and the environment still
-
There still seem to be quality issues. I have them in non-dimmer switch light fixtures that use regular bulbs. I have bought some for other light fixtures such as ceiling fans with R20, but have always found quality issues with these and had to return them.
-
Some are, some aren't. It depends on where they are at and how often we use them. Our house is so well lit, it has to be very dark outside before we need to turn any on.
-
All of the bulbs in my house that will accept those bulbs have been changed to them. It's not only about saving energy for the environment, it helps big time with the electricity bill and the light is more attractive.
-
I've switched out most of them. The problem is that incandescent light bulbs can be DIMMED so nicely using an inexpensive triac & they last practically forever when operated at a little less than full brightness. Fluorescent lights, on the other hand, generally can't be dimmed and the special dimmers they make for them don't work very well. I'm waiting for inexpensive LED light bulbs to take over the market in the coming decades.
-
Yep all my light bulbs are eco-friendly! I cant see that deferant between them and normal bulbs! expt they save energy !
-
Yes, we have been using them for years.
