In the system configuration screen of my PS2, I can't change the time or date. Why is this?

Are you taking care to press the X button in order to enter your selection? (Note: If you can't even scroll the time and date options to make a change a mechanical malfunction has occured) On the Main Menu screen, have the ring of orbital lights come to a halt? If so, your system might be malfunctioning. At start-up, are your games loading in a timely fashion if at all? Any game that takes more than ten seconds to load from the Main Menu screen (to the PlayStation or PS2 screen) or show its disc icon in the browser screen is a clear indication of system problems. If any of these situations apply to you then your system probably has serious issues that need to be dealt with. I suggest calling Sony's help line and getting more information.

If in fact the browser ring of circles has come to a halt i have found that the bios battery is in need of replacement this job is not too hard to do unless you are not familier with taking your PS2 to bits if this is the case then you need to take it to a specialist repair place but make sure you don't get ripped off
