The first few weeks I was here I had a hard time getting my rhythm here. I made all kinds of mistakes. Even that one. Maybe the ones who are doing it are new? I have noticed that the elders will do that sometimes, too. They don't seem overly concerned with points.

They are responding to the cleverness of someone else's answer and don't care about points for themselves! :)
-
Meh, I'm guessing sometimes, they don't want to answer the question, but they just have a comment for an answer.
-
First thing that comes to mind - they don't think of the funny answers as fast. They need time, just need time-it can be a process you know. Course, they could also be very shy.

sometimes i just like reading everyone's answers and i will leave comments if there's a particular answer i really like or think is funny~doesn't really mean i have to leave my own answer.....just "posi-trolling" :)

I post where it seems most appropriate. I'm not after points. If someone else's answer stimulates my own creativity or funny bone, I'm more apt to post a comment. So I don't think it's so much that people forget, they just don't care if it's an answer or not, just as long as someone reads it:-)

They made a mistake. I've posted an answer as a comment a few times to the confusion of the person that wasn't meant to get the comment.
-
Personally, if someone posted pretty much what I would have, or something better along those lines, I'll just add to his/her answer with a comment
-
There are 3 main reasons why I may not post a response of my own but might leave a comment. 1. I see my answer already. 2. I forget. 3. I'm positrolling.

When you post a comment you feel a lot better and with less weight on your back as you can not be down rated. I guess that could explain it. Regards.
