There's a place in Torrance (LA area) called Alpine Village that hosts Oktoberfest every year. In 2006, looks like it takes place every Friday - Sunday from Sept 9 to Oct 29. http://www.alpinevillage.net/oktoberfest.htm Alpine Village is located at 833 W. Torrance Blvd, in Torrance, 90502. (310) 327-4384 Among the fun activities is a cow-milking contest, although I didn't see the dates. Even if you feel your cow-milking skills aren't sufficiently honed to enter a contest, no big deal. The folks in charge would probably be delighted that you're interested in the art and give you a lesson, with the cooperation of some gentle jersey. If nothing else, they might know where you can go to milk whenever you felt like it. Sort of the dairy/bovine equivalent of a driving range.
