It's because you're ears, nose, and throat are connected, the acoustics must ampliphie it a bit. It's kinda funny to think how many people are now sitting around with ear buds up their noses.

There is a hole in the top of your mouth that goes up into your nose holes. The material between the nose and mouth vibrate when there are sounds in the mouth or nose or both.
