well, no not really. I have a avatar of a guy, hunt for guys, and yet I am a guy, tho you never know I could be a woman, or a zombie.
-
probably not:)
-
I can send you some pics to prove I'm definitely a lady! HAHAHAHA!
-
You could always call them. Remember the thing called a telephone ? They still have them ya know, and they work great
-
NO
-
The internet: where the men are men, the women are men, and the children are FBI agents.
-
Telephone calls, webcams, photos and listening to your gut instinct.
-
Not right off the bat. But then the same thing in person. Taking your time to get to know someone and build a trust and a bond can insure you that who you talk to is who you think they are. a lot of people play on line some male pretending to be female as well as some female pretending to be male (yes this happens too). The only sure way to know for certain is talking to them on cam and asking them to prove they are male or female but that is very bad form but aside from that no there really isn't any other way to know for sure.
-
i am who i say i am, its really me in my pic, it was only taken tonight on my sons phone, i was definatly female last time i looked.lol
-
not usually i met a guy online one time who claimed to be a girl and even got on a cam to prove it and dressed up in girls clothes and i guess stuffed his top but refused to let me see his face. so i looked around on the internet and found another profile of his and it said male. eww. You could always ask them to make you a sign which is basically a clear picture of them including their face and at least part of their body and them holding a sign saying something you tell them to write on it such as your name or screenname ive seen a lot with things like I <3 then the persons name. some people collect these for some reason but yeah
-
not really.. unless you meet them face to face and then it could be too late... they could be a psychopath and do you in. It could be an on-line "Crying Game".
-
Why, did you talk to someone online, and then when you spoke on the phone "Patricia" sounded more like a "Patrick"?
-
After being online for 10 years, at first spending a few years in chat and now quite a while on a couple Q&A sites, I've seen a lot of "fakes." Some claim to be the opposite gender. Some claim to be a different age. Others claim to be single, and some describe themselves like they are models when they look more like trolls. I recall after a break-up I talked...very briefly...to someone online who gave their phone number. I read their profile. Then we talked once or twice on the phone. Then for grins I googled the phone number and found not only were they a lot older, and nowhere near as attractive as they described, but was also married with children. Never did meet for that cup of coffee....

I play a male-dominated game in a female-dominated guild. People guess me wrong all the time. Being called sir or bro doesn't bother me at all, but it's certainly proof that most people can't tell from typing. I know I've assumed people were male or female and been surprised when I've heard them on vent.
-
There is no way to absolutely tell. That is just the way it is.
-
Nope. There's no way to tell whether or not I'm an old man from Utah sitting at the computer with my pants down around my ankles;)
-
Are you saying that you aren't really male?
-
No, it's just like meeting people in person. You cannot be really sure that the boy next door isn't a girl, or the beautiful woman sitting at the bar isn't a man.
-
I don't know how that would be possible..if the person is aggressively determined to con you, he/she will "stay in character". :(
-
G'day Zack, Thank you for your question. The best way to test if a person claiming to be a female is really a female is to ask them what size pantyhose they wear. Most guys don't know anything about pantyhose so they will either say they don't wear it or frantically Google pantyhose sizes. Guys I'm not aware of any tests but there probably aren't many occasions where girls pretend to be guys. Regards

Ask them (male or female) to send you a picture of them wearing a clown suit, one gumboot on their left foot, one sandal on their right foot, a pair of red sunglasses with one lens missing, and an oven mitt on their right hand. If they send you a picture with all the accessories on right, you can be sure its a picture of them...because hey, where are they going to find a picture like that? ;)
-
meet them in person, your sure as hell to know then
-
You can't really tell, but I wouldn't be so worried about it. It wouldn't matter if you're not looking for a relationship, and if you are, then looking online for one is a bit creepy (no offense)
-
well....i really don't think there's a way...unless you find out his or her IP address and pay them a little visit....lol
-
I don't think so, unless you've met them in person.
-
a video camera works well... also a chat on the telephone has worked for me before... without one of those, though, no, you can't see through your computer screen, there are no trick questions you can ask, and so on... the only thing you have to go on is your gut, and if you're not good at picking up on subtle things, it can be easy to be deceived...
-
Have them take a real-time pic holding a sign saying "Hi <yourname>"
-
About the only SURE way to tell is to be a skilled hacker (or a police investigator with warrants) ... and to gather proof, starting with their actual internet service provider's given address, then research & investigate with excruciating detail ... eventually, you MAY be able to get enough evidence to confirm that they either are or are not who they claim to be.
-
ITS JUST LIKE A PHONE UNLESS YOU TRICK THEM NO. HOW ABOUT CAMS.
-
The only semi-reliable way I know of is to ask someone who says they are female what size panty hose they wear. While most guys can BS a bra size, panty hose are a bit trickier. Of course, that is not 100% reliable either.
-
Get them to Facetime and have them show you their picture ID.
