Joint Tenancy and Tenancy in Common are different ways two or more people can hold title to property. The biggest difference between the two is what happens on death. When one joint tenant dies, the other joint tenant automatically becomes owner of the entire property. When a tenant in common dies, his property passes down to his heir, and his heir becomes a tenant in common with the other tenant in common.
